Wait now I'm just confused about school systems in general?? In Norway everyone starts 1st grade the year they turn six, I just figured everywhere was like that??? *mind blown*
[2/2] As in everyone in one grade was born in the same year, just to clarify.
I’m in America so I’ll look at this from my perspective. I was born in the year 2000. I started the 1st Grade in August of 2006. I was 6 years old. In May of 2007, I turned 7 and the school year was going on for me. Although there were some kids who were born in December of 2006, so they were 6 when the school year started but turned 7 in 2006, so they were born in 1999.
So in my 1st-grade class, there were kids born in 1999 and 2000. I can’t say if it’s the same in the UK, but from what we’ve heard from JK, it works the same at Hogwarts as it does for me here in America.
