First night in Iceland....
First night in Iceland….
So a fantastic deal came up before Xmas so we are now in Reyjkavik.
They booked us on a northern lights tour tonight but I’m quite thankful it’s snowing so instead we had a beer (local of course) in the hotel whilst finalising plans for the next few days.
Pint done we sauntered (after a mini accidental detour) the 15 minutes walk into the centre. Loads of boutique shops with great individuality.…

DINING BLOG: Steikhúsið Iceland
Or Steak House in English...
Because I was only in Iceland for a couple of days I had to take advice from locals on where I can get a good piece of steak in Iceland and everyone pointed me to the Harbour.
Indeed this place do offer wide variety cut of steak. But I thought I'd be modest and get a 250g Rib eye steak. and Alex went for the grilled and honey-lemon glazed chicken. What amazed me is that they also offer 800g porter house steak (which the table next to us ordered) Upon seeing it arrived to their table I thought that is just gluttonous but as they were devouring the steak I started to envy them and thought I should have gone for that.
As a started we couldn't decide what to get so as a safe choice we ordered the mix platter it has a bit of everything i.e.Orange langoustine cakes with ginger-pesto and orange sauce Spring roll, smoked guillemot, dates with Japanese Mayo and bell pepper jam, crunchy bbq chicken tenders with chunky blue cheese sauce (chicken tenders were actually puffin)and prawns and cod skewer which was my favourite and the spring roll.
Our server was so accommodating, friendly and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening. the whole meal cost about £25 pp though I think restaurant prices across Iceland is a little bit pricey though it is accompanied by great table service and most places offer bread baskets and mineral water as a standard.
I would definitely recommend this place as part of your itinerary when visiting Reykjavik
