Idk if this has been asked before but what's everyone's sexuality and romantic orientation? (I mean besides the boys whom I'll assume as pan bc of MC)
There was another ask about sexuality, but I’ll respond to both on here!
So. Before I answer anything, I’d like to point out that a big theme in KF is finding yourself, which includes your sexual and romantic orientations. Experimenting, figuring and refiguring your feelings, realizing that this label worked better instead— a lot of that happens in college and I want to be able to explore that stage of your life in the game.
So someone might align as straight but because of how some events might unfold, they might end up questioning their sexuality. Someone else might come to understand themself a little better and realize that the label they’ve been using isn’t as accurate as they thought. It might not happen to everyone, but it can happen to someone in college, and so it can happen to a cast member.
With that in mind, I… don’t want people to assume that the guys are pansexual just because MC is dependent on the player. Rather, the guys are what they are until they realize they might not be, and that goes for the rest of the cast.
So really, the best I can do right now is tell you guys what their orientation is at the start of the game, and what their orientation is throughout and after will simply be up to how the story unfolds for each cast member.
That being saidddd, at the start of the game, the cast’s orientations are:
Cameron - asexual and ??? (they’re not sure of where they stand with romance. They think gray-romantic feels right but not quite.)
Deja - heterosexual and heteromantic
Elio - heterosexual and heteromantic
Reynah - heterosexual and ??? (she thought she knew but she’s been really thinking about it recently)
Jamie - ??? and ??? (He never gave it thought before, and he didn’t really pay much attention to if he had liked someone before, so there’s no label that comes to mind [Note: aro/ace best suits him here but Jamie doesn't even know that's an option in regards to identity])
Percy - demisexual and demiromantic
And that’s them! No promises that anything stays and no promises that anything changes either! It’s all up to what happens in the game.

Also just to clarify, we’re not trying to make a game that caters to the player. You can pursue a guy and they might not return your feelings. You can get the guy and they might break up with you before the game is over. You could even reach the good ending and it might not be everything you wanted. That’s just how the story unfolded.
It’s a game yes, but like I’ve said— Keyframes is about the experiences one might undergo in college and that definitely means the good AND the bad. Just like in college, just like in life.
For WIP Wednesday, I figured I’d share what I’ve been learning on piano.
When I watched Inuyasha for the first time, I immediately fell in love with the score. The two pieces I love most that give me soo many feelings are Dearest and Futari No Kimochi/To Love’s End/Affections Touching Across Time (not sure what to call it, it has so many different names haha).
I couldn’t find a piano arrangement of Dearest that captured the same emotion as the full orchestra version, but I did find an amazing arrangement of Affections Touching Across Time by user Reynah on YouTube. She had the best arrangement of any of the covers I had found on YouTube. It really captures the original emotion of the piece IMO. You’ll probably recognize it as the song that plays during a lot of sweet Inukag moments throughout the show (although it’s not always played just for Inukag).
This is where I’m at in learning it from Reynah’s sheet music. I still have about a page to go, so I will post the whole thing once I’ve practiced it enough!

i love how all the cast is bilingual/speaks other languages (Looking at you Jamie 👀)!!! if MC asked them to teach them something in their language what's the first thing each of them would teach them?

Jamie would teach them random words like "baby goat", "flower pollen" as if they were meaningful.
"En äggvita doesn't have a direct translation in English, but it's supposed to describe the feeling of being under blankets or seeing a warm fire place in Winter. Close to cozy but even deeper."
It fucking means egg white.
Percy would teach Spring and Summer MC curse words, he thinks it would be funny if they start using it. But he'd teach Winter and Fall MC words that are more endearing/compliments. Stuff like, "Honey" or "I love you" or "I think you're cute" just to mess with them. He won't tell Winter what he did, but he'd tell Fall to see their reaction.
Cameron would actually ask MC what they want to learn first and go off of that. But they'd be excited to share what they know.
Deja would teach every MC how to say something dumb, like "I'm a massive idiot" and she'll tell them it's a greeting instead. She'll tell all of them except for Winter MC what she did once she had her fun and she'd only apologize to Fall MC.
Elio would genuinely start from the greetings and the basics. He would patiently make sure they got every word before moving on to the next.
Reynah would also also start with the basics for a Fall MC and a Winter MC. But she'd tell Spring MC all the new slang and what's in so they can chismes/react together. Summer MC would be taught curse words and insults so they can shout it to someone if they so wished.
Ngl I went into the game cuz of Jamie but Elio won me over.

But fun facts, sure, I can share some. These series of facts is brought to you by some of the writing team at ass o'clock (by that I mean 3AM)
Percy memorized up to the 20th digit of pi because he thought it'd make him seem cool. It didn't, not really.
Jamie can shoot liquid through his teeth like a fountain. But he'd rather die than tell anyone other than Percy and Elio.
Elio has been in fist fights before. The first case was when he was 10 and it was to defend Santa's honor. His mom and dad had been laughing when they broke the news to him. He was also suspended for that ^^,
Elio also has tattoos of constellations/celestial figures that are related to his siblings! (He also technically has one for Percy but there's a layer of reasons for it)
Cameron's competitively ranked in yu-gi-oh. It was, in fact, not just a phase. They're considered a bit of a legend in some cities.
Reynah's a former beauty pageant queen! Her parents put her up to it when she was young but she ended up really enjoying it.
Deja gambles between her family members. They got betting pools for a lot of things including who'll have the highest GPA between her and older her brother. So far, she's winning but by a literal 0.001 point.
Deja's also ordained! She can officiate a wedding if needed, and actually some alumni looking to get married on campus have been officiated by her.
Elio accidentally shaved off his eyebrow when he was doing his usual slit. It's Percy and Jamie's fault though for bursting into the bathroom.
Jamie and Percy routinely nap together. It's their thing. If not in their living room then Jamie's room-- mostly because Percy invites himself in.
Elio gave Percy a set of rings for his birthday once. Since then, Percy has never taken them off and most likely never will.
Jamie bakes lemon bites for Elio because he knows it's his favorite. He'll have them ready after a particularly difficult gym day or they're packed up for an away dance competition. Elio always scarfs it down.
Cameron helps Deja dye her hair. They also help braid in new strands when she wants to change things up. In return, Deja paints their nails!
Reynah and Deja once made someone on the school board cry. They may only be a part of a student organization, but they don't mess around with student rights.
Cameron and Reynah usually don't meet without Deja around but when they do they stop everything they're doing and go for coffee together. They do it to be better friends and it became something of a life catch up. They also pay in rotation when this happens and are good at keeping track. Last time, Reynah paid so Cameron's tucked some money away for the next opportunity.
3. this one's probably a spoiler but, what are their ideal date locations? if not that, then their dream vacation?
4. miiight sound a bit creepy but how do they sleep at night? sleeping positions, if they need white noise, sleep with a plushie, or any other quirks? im lowkey betting cam sleeps with a frog plushie

Yup. One, and it's Deja. She can't deal with bugs and creepy crawlies. It's why she's so particular about cleaning, she'd pass out on the spot if she sees a roach.
Everyone else has got things they don't like but nothing as extreme as a phobia. (Though he does have… I mean it’s sort of a fear… though like there’s no scientific name for it… but it kinda counts? Oh well :p)
Yes! You do in the extended demo, twice. One's in a group setting, and the other's not really a video game, but it is a game! ^^
Hmm, I don't think they're particular about where to go for a date location. Maybe this is a cop out but so long as they're with their significant other, then it's already pretty ideal to them.
But pfft lemme actually give you guys something-- let's see...
Cameron would be thrilled to go on a museum date. They'd poke fun of some of the pieces while appreciating them. Deja would prefer to stay indoors so actually just curling up on the couch with a co-op is good enough for her. Percy's the same but he wouldn't say no to a movie where he can pull all of the cheesy moves, like reaching for the popcorn bucket at the same time or swinging his arm around his date mid yawn. Elio is raring to go for anything and everything, so long as it's an experience. Jamie would like a casual walk instead, just taking in the sights and checking out a new store. Reynah wouldn't mind where but she would like to plan out the date. For her, half the fun is researching haha

Jamie sleeps like the dead. However, if someone is around he’ll kind of drape himself over them, like a backpack! Percy can attest to this when they take their naps. Jamie is also a blanket hog— he likes to pull them up to his nose so you only see the top of his head.
Lucky for Jamie, Percy can’t sleep with blankets! He also has a bad habit of burrowing his head into his pillows so he wakes up with bed hair every time. Also Percy has a night time playlist. He doesn’t listen to it often but he’s got it if someone ever needs it.
Reynah sleeps on her back and with eye covers. Though she doesn’t need it, she’s been turning her fan on or her music app before bed because she finds the white noise comforting.
Deja’s a side sleeper. She also snores a little. It wasn’t something she thought she did until a friend told her during a high school sleepover. But other than, no other quirks!
Cameron can sleep sitting up— it’s from all the times they fell asleep in their car waiting for a class to start— but when in bed they tend to starfish and kick the covers. MC and Deja also found out that they talk a little in their sleep. Sometimes it’s incoherent mumbles, other times it’s a full blown conversation (they have recordings heh). And you’re right! They have a plushie collection but they don’t need to sleep with one, especially since they all remain in their room at home :3
Elio sleeps on his stomach and would bunch the blankets up or drag a pillow to hug in his sleep. He also… he doesn’t know why this happens, but at some point in the night he’ll just strip down to his boxers?? It’s been a pretty consistent event. Even if he were to sleep shirtless, he’ll wake up without his sweats— so yeah, boxers it is.
Omg I wasn't expecting at all their hobbies?? Mostly Jamie, I love that he reads manhwa! And Deja being a gamer girlie...💘 That's really unexpected. Now then I got even more questions!! These are more basic I guess?
Do any of them have a second language or is English not the first one? With Jamie being an exchange student and Deja speaking to herself another language or so in the demo I got curious about their backgrounds

Languages/Background
I was also waiting for this kind of question because I thought about it-- a lot, way too much, in fact lmao. I won't go too in depth about each of their backgrounds, especially since some of it is heavily intertwined with their stories, but I'm happy to indulge the basics!
So down the entire cast, we got:
Percy - Japanese (1st Gen); he's fluent in Japanese and it is his first language but he definitely uses English the most nowadays. He only ever speaks his native tongue when he's at home. He also knows a bit of Hawaiian Pidgin. It's what he picked up from Elio when they came to know each other in high school.
Elio - Hawaiian (Dad)/Thai (Mom); English is his first language but his family makes sure to teach him Hawaiian, Hawaiian Pidgin, and Thai. He's conversational with the first two, especially since that's how his grandparents on his dad's side would choose to communicate with. However, since he doesn't get to visit his relatives in Thailand often, Thai is definitely the less practiced of the bunch. At this point, he can somewhat hold a conversation but it's more like-- he understands the language better than he can speak it.
Jamie - Swedish; Swedish is his first language but he is the biggest polyglot on the team, and I mean big. He's fluent in English and most, if not all, European languages (German, French, Italian- you name it, he can probably speak it). Korean is something he recently picked up, though- just so he won't have to wait for translations for the manhwas he likes lol. Learning languages is easy to him and if he's motivated enough he could be conversational in a couple of months.
Deja - Haitian; English is her first language but she's conversational in Haitian Creole. She only speaks it if she's with family, especially her oldest and more distant relatives, or when exasperated. Deja isn't really in the business of flexing her second tongue since it's not something people immediately close to her use a lot.
Cameron - Nicaraguan (2nd Gen); English is also their first language but they dip into Spanish with their family, especially their grandparents. In the KF world, I believe you wouldn't catch this unless you're fluent in Spanish, but Cameron would speak with Nicaraguan phonology so some of their pronunciations might be weighted with 's' sounds.
Reynah - Filipina (1st Gen); English is her second language with Tagalog as her first. However, after being in the states for so long she's not as fluent in it. It's the same case as Elio and most children who migrate at a young age- Reynah understands better than she can speak. That being said, her accent surprisingly lingers. You hear it when she's angry or speaking fast, and you hear it at the end of her sentences or at a break- that short 'ah' sound Filipinos speak with.
And that's all of them! Though it's probably too redundant for me to note, everyone doesn't have an accent except for Reynah and Jamie. Jamie keeps his Swedish accent even though he's fluent because it's too much effort to use an American accent lol
Hobbies (Deja and Cam)
Aha yeah, gotta sneak in anime references when I can and I'm glad you like Cameron too! They're very endearing to me ^^ But okay bestie hobbies! Def gotta know this since MC's best friends with them. So to start--
Deja
Deja's got a handful of hobbies. Does she have time for all of them? No, but she's got them! And they're mostly to help her unwind. For games, she tends to like the ones that relies on strategies and skill. Platformers are her go-to's as well as party games. She's not competitive in the way Elio is but she'd be damned if anyone took her spot at the top of the leaderboard.
Besides video games, she likes to tend to plants and players can see that their shared apartment is littered with them. If she miraculously got more free time, then she'll pick up a knitting/crocheting project.
However, her favorite thing to do in her pastime are her nails! At the apartment, her and MC would indulge in movie nights/marathons so that she could paint and dry her nails during the duration of the showing. The last thing you'd catch her with is a broken or chipped edge.
Cam
As you peeped, Cameron watches anime! They only watch though- they like the action compared to reading. They've been on the grind for a while so you can consider them a veteran haha. Their favorite genres to watch are Slice of Life's, Sports, Shoujos, and Dramas and Thrillers. I know, I know, that's sort of weird jump from their other favorites lol but they like being swept up into the story line like Percy. So if they start crying about a fictional relationship or jumping on the couch because of a murder mystery- then it's safe to say they're enjoying the show.
Other than that, Cameron really likes art! In fact, it could've very well had been something they majored in! They're that good. But alas, they decided on a pre-law track so painting and drawing remains as a past time.
And of course, who can forget music. They only play one instrument and it's not often, but they love listening to it- especially Kpop. If you look through their car, you might find a photo card or two tucked away somewhere. That, and their albums lying next to their seat. (I'm not supposed to be referencing actual bands but Cameron has slipped into the diamond life iykyk)
Past Relationships
Oh, first love is a good guess! But out of the entire cast, half of them have been in a serious relationship before and that is Percy, Deja, and Reynah. Everyone else either had crushes or went on a couple of dates but never went official with anyone.
I won't go into the specifics for either Percy or Reynah, but since Deja's your roommate and best friend-- conversations about her love life would have cropped up before the start of the game. So at the very least I can say that she's dated a couple of guys during her high school and freshmen college year.
She broke up with all of them pretty quick though haha I wouldn't say she was wasting her time with them- she doesn't date for the sake of it like some might. So every relationship could've been something- but she's got zero tolerance for cheaters or massive fuck ups so they ended up being nothing. C'est la vie
