REZA NYC ADINKRA TANK TOPS
We're proud to announce a new partnership with REZA NYC, a fashion line that celebrates the geometric designs and highly narrative patterns of West African textiles by incorporating them into contemporary American streetwear. REZA NYC produced this awesome Adinkra tank top with silk-screening nonprofit Works in Progress. Proceeds from every sale benefit GroundUp Global. Sold in both black and white, get yours here.
While on break from school in the summer of 2011, Ali Force came to New York City to design out of frustration with the current climate of men’s fashion. Reacting to the oversaturation of American aesthetics in both high end and commercial men’s wear, Force focused on utilizing traditional and contemporary African textiles.
Influenced by their geometric designs and highly narrative patterns, Force reworked the African textiles to create modern, masculine constructions deeply influenced by his experience with form-fitting and utilitarian street wear.
Following the creation of his first prototypes and their immediate positive reception by the public, Force began formulating his first Fall/Winter collection for 2012, labeling his line REZA NYC in reverence of his Iranian ancestry.
Re-evaluating what it means to dress and look American, Force incorporates a new visual language into his designs, one that beckons new interpretations of the signs and symbols used in fashion today. By marketing his line as unisex Force also hopes to create a bridge between men’s and women’s design, allowing for men’s fashion to grow in more creative ways and permitting women’s wear to explore new territories as well.
