Drexod had taken Rez to the edge of the active settlement of Amethyst. The vast majority of the station had remained inactive, shut off from the revived section. The settlement Drexod had cultivated was not large enough to warrant opening the entire station. As a result, the lively pocket was isolated from the rest of the defunct station.

It had been untouched by anyone other than Drexod himself and the numerous maintenance shanks he owned. One of these shanks hovered nearby idly, the four appendages hanging limply as it bobbed gently.

“So sweetie, since you like exploring I’ve decided to open life support to the rest of the station,” Drexod explained to Rez, “Through this door is the rest of the station. The shank will follow you to make sure you’re okay, so I’ll be able to see and hear you.”

The machine bobbed closer to the small Awoken, beeping softly as it did so.

Pushing the previously locked door open, a gust of stale air billowed past. Drexod knew Rez liked exploring and he figured this would help sate the smaller mans curiosity without him wiggling through ventilation shafts.

“Have fun,” he smiled, giving his boyfriend a kiss on the forehead.

Two tales

    Roman wasn’t a fan of outsiders giving him work, but his options were running thin. He was good at his job, probably a little too good considering there weren’t too many bounties for him as of late. Not from his usual sources, at least. The blackmarket was a nice place to find some trouble, and that was how he ended up in the larger forests of Russia, rushing to find his target that was marked by some clan. It sounded as though the person had stolen some valuables and hurt some important higher ups only to be demanded back alive. He wasn’t a fan of that either. Alive. That meant that the job had a few more steps, and he couldn’t simply shoot the target on sight.

     Nonetheless, a job was a job, and the man to be kept busy. He tried to keep himself from warning the enemy as if they were a sensitive deer, opting out of flying in by ship or sparrow, and instead just closing the distance to the target zone on foot. Having good endurance and speed, this was nothing. Ro wasn’t the strongest or the smartest, but he definitely was one of the fastest and most agile. Pretty soon he saw the marker growing closer and closer with the end of the tree line in sight. Past the end of the forest looked to be a wide, open area with a stream passing through the area with many buildings sitting in it, unmoved for years. It didn’t take long for him to reach that end, scanning the area with stilled feet for any sign of the target only to see a being sitting on top of one of the larger rocks, baggy clothes and all. Sure, he didn’t know if that was his man, but he made an educated guess. They were far from most of the civilizations. A rifle raised itself in his hands and aimed at the figure, boots stepping one in front of the other as he closed in. 

      “Alright, hands up where I can see them. I’m a guardian, what are you doing out here?” It was an act. He was a guardian, but he wasn’t there to help or ‘check on things’.

Oz took notice of the small Warlock not too far away. With a warm smile and a playful look to him, he tiptoed slowly over. Once he was close enough he gave the smaller man fair warning with his words. 

“Guess who!” 

He excitedly said as his large hands gently came up to cover Rez’s eyes as if wanting him to guess.

Iron Chef: Awakening

The day was warm and a light breeze was blowing. Dinner time was near, and Phaenna had a roast cooking in the oven. All that was needed was a tasty side: macaroni and cheese!

Phaenna stretched and cracked her knuckles. She had grown accustomed to the Warlock sitting before her and no longer felt uneasy from his presence. He had, over time, grown to be as much a fixture as the others. In fact, seeing Beltane-5 in medical without Rez seemed out of place. So, a fixture - a crew member - he was.

Perhaps not quite a friend yet - not in the way she had thought of a friend. But then again, she thought, I’d lay down bullets for him so what does that mean?

Speaking of bullets.

Phaenna clasped her hands together. “Okay Rez, so it looks like you’ve never cooked before. I’m going to teach you how. We’re going to start off with some basic rules and I will guide you step by step into making something tasty: macaroni and cheese! Are you ready?”

She beckoned him to the sink. “The first thing you should do before you cook is to tend to your hygeine. Even if your hands look clean, always wash your hands before you begin, or you might get other people sick. Here...”

She turned the tap and hot water poured, though not hot enough to scald.

“You’ve washed your hands before, and here’s some soap. Get a good washing in and we’ll move on to the next step!”

Leaving the war room, the man strode across the shipyard and through the terminal. What was supposed to be another assault and rescue mission had taken a turn when the Psions made a demand.

In hindsight it seemed reasonable for them to come to the conclusion they had. The Psionic population of Amethyst had welcomed Rez as one of their own even though they were rather different.

Once he reached the tower that housed himself and his partners, as well as acting as the main offices for the station, Drexod rode the elevator up and quickly found the Awoken.

Knocking on the door, the man called out, “Rez sweetie, can I come in?”
