I’m restarting a project I began back in 2018: redesigning the children Frey & Lest have with the love interests!

I never liked how none of the children matched the love interests, and the canon children don’t look like Lest at all (unless you marry Amber, or if you headcanon Frey and Lest as siblings, I suppose). So, I went about redesigning them, and then life got in the way and I forgot about this project.

I assigned everyone 1-3 children, gave them names and vague personalities based on how their parents would potentially raise and influence them. Not every family has one boy and one girl, since these are based off what families I envision characters would have (so feel free to disagree lmao).

I’m starting with the bachelors and going from my favorite to least favorite, and then moving onto the bachelorettes in the same fashion. Since RF4 doesn’t have same sex marriage, all bachelors will only be paired with Frey and all bachelorettes will only be paired with Lest. I also had an idea for potential extras (like Bado, Venti, etc).

Their clothes will mostly match the canon clothes of Noel and Luna, but I redesigned them to have different colors, and sometimes a slightly different look. But I did try to keep common motifs (diamond shapes, little flower shapes, etc), and some colors. Also they’re simplified because holy shit I am not drawing all those goddamn details 12+ times. I’m not even sure how some of those clothes function!

But anyways!

For Leon we have Noel and Estella!

Noel is the name of the canon male child in the game, and coincidentally Noel is Leon spelled backwards, so it was perfect!

Estella means “star”. Maria would’ve been a reasonable choice, but I wanted a name that still meant something and connected to her while not being her literal name. A star is the symbol that Maria draws on her letters to Leon, so I thought that was a cute choice!

Estella and Noel are twins, and I like to think that after being cute, innocent toddlers they would take on their father’s more mischievous nature. While Leon tends to only tease, I think the twins would be full on pranksters. In particular, I think Estella is the mastermind. 

I’m aware that Leon’s fox ears and tail are more than likely magical and not genetic, but I still wanted to add them. These children look a lot like Leon in particular because I love his palette.

Next one will be Arthur!
