Does your college radio station have a copyright expert on staff? Maybe it should. Earlier this month a photographer sued two radio stations, a TV station and others for using his photo without proper attribution.Today's generation has trouble understanding media copyrights, instead operating on the principle that if they can find it online then it's fine to use it however they wish. There is also the dangerous "courtesy of" rumor that falsely assures people it's okay to use someone else's image as long as you credit the photographer/creator. Unfortunately, "courtesy of" only protects you against plagiarism claims.
The best images to use as those in the public domain that require no attribution. The stock.xchng (sxc.hu) was a great resource, but went offline in 2013. A great alternative is RGBStock.com.
