RGCU PERFUME HCS
as in what perfume they would wear
Part 1 (Grace, Driver, Lars, Holland)
Part 2 TBA
Ryland Grace
Ryland doesn't care about perfume as much as he wants to look like he does. He puts some on every morning before work because it just feels right, it's a habit. He doesn't even remember when he picked it up, sometime in college maybe? But it's been like that for years now and it helps him maintain his "cool teacher" status among kids.
Every day he wears Uomo? by Moschino, because it was kinda cheap and also didn't smell like other Masculine Man Scents which he hates. Uomo is a bit more fruity and floral while still musky and aromatic. Basically, exactly in between of male and female fragrances. He thought it'd be perfect for school environment because it's soft and balanced just enough to not distract anyone but be noticeable and make him seem fancier. It took him exactly 30 minutes to choose it and he never gave up on it.
Driver
Driver loves to smell clean. Driver wants to smell clean. But it's kind of hard when you spend 70% of your life in a garage, and another 20% being covered in blood. Hence he had never even tried using perfume, because it wouldn't make a difference.
Well, at least before Irene. Driver really wanted to... impress??? Irene?? He's not sure what he was going for, and everything he did was kinda dumb, and he didn't think it through at all but he went up to Shannon and asked if there was a way get rid of the oil stink on his hands. At first Shannon laughed at him, then he realised Driver was completely serious and had to tell him the stink is going to follow him 'till death do them part. Driver didn't say anything but definitely looked like a kicked puppy and Shannon had nothing else to do but go through the "garbage has no use for but doesn't want to throw away" pile and fish out a glass bottle with darkish yellowish liquid inside and "MUSK" written on the outside. He hasn't used that since he was, like, 40 and probably never will again, but why not let the kid give it a try?
Driver was reluctant to put it on. It was weird and clearly not the color it once was but it smelled... okay? Musky? It literally says MUSK in huge black letters on the front, what else would it smell like? So he put some on his wrists, just before his gloves, and rubbed them together.
Everything was fine when he picked Irene and Benicio up. Irene asked if he had had a lot of work, and he always has a lot of work, so that's what he told her, and she just nodded understandingly. Benicio kept staring at him from the backseat, and he could feel it on his back, but maybe he was just a kid being a kid?
Then he asked if Driver had been running. Because he smells just like Benicio after running around and Mom always makes him take a bath but she's not making Driver take a bath even though he's just as stinky which is unfair and-
Benicio had to stop talking because she was staring daggers at him. Irene said something along the lines of, "Sorry, he had too much sugar today" to Driver and he just smiled at her. It wasn’t a big deal. He felt like crying.
He asked Shannon to throw that stupid bottle away.
Lars Lindstrom
Oh, Lars wishes he could use perfume. He really likes it when other people smell nice (not overwhelming though) and it's one of the first things he notices about people after meeting them. He loved how Bianca smelled like a mix of forest (from going on walks with him) and amberwood (from living Gus and Karin's house, they have these home perfume diffuser sticks thingies Lars wants to get for himself) and Karin's shampoo; he loves how Margo always smells like honey and flowers but it's barely noticeable; he loves the familiar smell of incense in the church and smell of wet grass and petrichor near the lake.
Once, in the office, he smelled something. He had no idea who it was coming from but it was spicy and citrusy and minty and he could definitely smell vanilla (and he loved vanilla!) and it wasn't a girly vanilla like what Margo wears (not that it's bad!) but a very manly vanilla and he decided he wants to try perfume. To kinda have the same impression on people this unknown person just had on him.
(He never found out that perfume was Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier)
So he asked Karin to give him a bottle of perfume for Christmas, because he trusted her judgment and just the thought of going to the mall and be surrounded by so many people and smells made him dizzy. And that's exactly what Karin did! For Christmas Lars received a small box with Individual Blue for Him from Avon.
(They live in a small town, EVERYONE is a victim to the avon mlm there)
It didn't smell as sweet as he'd like but nevertheless it was a pleasant fresh herbal scent, and Lars liked it. The next morning he put it on and LOATHED the feeling of something wet oily watery slippery on his skin. He tried to rub it off with his hand but it just made his palm feel sticky and gross. He had to take a shower immediately. He thought about putting the perfume on his clothes but then thought about how hard it would be to wash it off and. Yeah no, he's not doing any of that. So now he has a completely untouched bottle of perfume. Sometimes, when he feels extra confident, he tries to put it on again. Spraying some in the air and walking into it has been working so far so you could say he's making progress :)
Holland March
Holland doesn't really use perfume because, well. It's not like he can smell what he's putting on himself and it's a pretty important part of using perfume at all.
Not to say he doesn't have any! There is a bottle of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme somewhere in his house. His wife gave it to him as a gift a while after he lost his sense of smell. It felt weird at first but she managed to get him to use it a few times. She said she loved how it made him smell clean and musky at the same time, in like a very elegant way. It REALLY made him think he should wear perfume more often but he had barely used it before she passed. Now he can't bring himself to waste (in his pov) it and sees no point in buying anything else.
