After a lengthy day of trying on dresses for the festival, Amy is able to settle down for the night without any drama. Though, when finding herself in her subconscious dream world, she is not quite sure if she truly is in her own dream world.
chapter 33 is up! amy believes that she already has enough going on in the real world when it comes to dealing with drama with the king. what happens when she discovers that she learns she has to deal with his drama in her dreams—or are they truly her dreams?
My bitchass thought I had seasonal depression, but apparently a bipolar baddie was overmedicated for way too long (since fucking December, goddamnit)
My brain is starting to clear its brain fog and find motivation again, so I'm just now starting to power through my Shadamy week project after months of struggling. We'll see what the outcome looks like (hoping for a chapter to post on all seven days, but with how long each chapter's estimated to be, it's gonna be played by ear), so RGitK will have slow updates as I figure out my next steps
Current goal: write my Shadamy week project and hopefully get out a new RGitK chapter in the next couple of weeks
Here's a sneak peek for what's coming this Shadamy week so y'all can start hyping up with me over this:
Long strides guided Shadow over to Amy, his arms crossing over his chest. The anger that lingered in his chest quietly shifted from a boil to a simmer. To add into the mix, concern laced into the concoction. The intensity of his ruby eyes remained planted on Amy, daring not to leave her frustrated stance. The breeze filtering into the workshop blew the light smell of strawberries and vanilla straight into Shadow’s face, catching his breath. As he found himself a few feet away and closing in, he asked softly, “Rose… are you alright?”
Shadow found his spot beside Amy, giving some space between the two. The warm sun seeped into his black quills and jacket, offering a warmth he struggled to find often during the day. Amy stood to herself, staring out into the field that surrounded the workshop. Her face was drawn tight with building anger, but there was a slight glisten to her emerald eyes. A hand quickly reached up and rubbed at an eye, sparkles trickling from her hands down her cheeks with the motion. “I’m fine. Just pissed at Sonic.”
“Your face says otherwise,” Shadow pressed gently, eyebrows furrowing. A flurry of insults about Sonic dared to escape his mouth, but he bit back his critiques and focused on Amy. “What’s going on?”
A pause shifted the conversation. Amy peered at the field, the glistening in her eyes fading as she bit her bottom lip, debating. A deep breath pulled her shoulders up. She turned her attention to Shadow finally, greeting his ruby eyes with hesitant emerald ones. “Do you believe in my instincts?”
“Define instincts.”
“I don’t know—my intuition?” Amy sighed, her ears pinning against the top of her head. Her gaze drooped towards the ground, her feet shuffling uncomfortably. The sparkles from her hands eased, allowing her composure to find its way back. “When I talk about energy and the future?”
“I do, yes,” Shadow nodded, allowing his arms to drop to his sides. His tone remained even, unbiased. Though, a tiny, wary smirk found its way into the conversation. “You can be scarily accurate.”
“This is one of those times—and it runs deep,” Amy explained, not catching Shadow’s anxious curiosity. Her eyes remained glued to the ground, feet kicking around the loose dirt that greeted the steel in a fine dust. Light scrapes of pebbles echoed off the metal. “The atmosphere… Something’s about to change. I don’t like it. Not at all.”
“You said earlier that a new timeline was forming,” Shadow reminisced back to the previous conversation. He raised an eyebrow at Amy, taking in the scent of strawberries and vanilla that grew stronger with the closing proximity. “Is that what you’re referring to?”
“Yes, exactly!” Amy exclaimed, whipping around and grabbing Shadow’s jacket-covered bicep. She peered up at him with a glint of hope in her eyes, as if someone finally understood her. “I have only felt it occur a few times: it’s like the universe suddenly shifts and we enter a new outcome that we’re not supposed to be in. Almost like we entered a dimension that’s not our own and should belong to another version of us.”
A familiar dread dragged Shadow’s stomach to the floor. Eyebrows furrowing with concern, he asked, “Are you suggesting time travel?”
“No, not like that; what I’m trying to say is that something’s coming, something that we’re not prepared for.” Amy shifted to stand beside Shadow, cradling his arm and melting into his side. Her head leaned against his shoulder, her presence comforting like he had found his way home. “That’s why I was trying to get Sonic to change something in hopes that the feeling goes away. I don’t mind patrolling with Omega, but something’s brewing that needs to change now.”
“Do you know what needs to change?”
“No unfortunately—but Sonic usually listens when I’m trying to give input with the help of my intuition. I don’t know why he isn’t listening now.”
Shadow pondered to himself for a second. His frustration melted away, but concern found its way into the situation. His mind ran with solutions to Amy’s predicament, but nothing was piecing together perfectly. His head drifted to land atop Amy’s, his voice quiet but reassuring, “If it’ll make you feel better, I’ll keep an eye out for anything suspicious and report back to you.”
“Thank you, Shadow,” Amy breathed in quietly, her hands tightened against Shadow’s arm. Her words radiated genuine gratitude, like Shadow’s simple solution meant the world and more. “I really appreciate it.”
Shadow’s lips twitched with the tiniest smile, tenderness enveloping his heart. “Of course.”
After the eventful day Amy had, she settles back into her quarters, but something dark is lurking in the shadows—but the presence is more powerful than the king. This presence she learns is what she is up against in the coming weeks.
chapter 30 is finally up! amy is back in her quarters resting after her eventful day, but something seems to be watching her. the presence grows with the appearance of the king, which amy begins to understand what she is up against for the next couple of weeks until the festival. at the same time, she comes to a consensus with the king that maybe working together is better than closing oneself off.Â
also please check out the author’s note! i have a question that i would like some feedback on for future content coming from this fic <3
Amy is left in the dark for two days as she finds herself under the indiscriminate surveillance of the king. She has grown antsy, but the news of a dress fitting for the festival for herself offers a break. Rouge and Amy split off from the king to go to the dress fitting, but rumors that stir up more emotions than she likes bombard Amy.
chapter 31 finally posted! in this chapter, the festival looms ever closer. on top of all the secretive planning between rouge and amy, amy has been scheduled for a dress fitting for more formal garb for the festival. though, while there, amy is confronted by rumors that may reveal amy’s conflicting emotions over the king.Â
also, i’ve revealed in the chapter a secret project that’s been in the making: a fic cover! thank you to the lovely @overlordneon for helping me create the perfect piece that encapsulates the story phenomenally! i couldn’t have done it without you!Â
Amy's dress fitting has already started off with the reveal that her personal business has somehow made its way through the castle's gossip channel, but facing that reality in silence during her lengthy dress fitting has peaked her nerves. Despite Rouge's presence, Justine continues to press questions against Amy. It is only a matter of time until Amy greets the catalyst for her rumors in front of one of the gossip channels—and in a vulnerable position at that.
omg hi, i’m back from my disappearance! seasonal depression and world events have been keeping me pretty disconnected from the internet, but with the introduction of spring, i’m starting to feel back to my normal self again!Â
a little recap: last chapter amy went to her dress fitting for the festival, but discovered that rumors were being spread about the king being in cahoots with a possible female suitor. this chapter, amy’s been at her dress fitting for a few hours now, and she’s been struggling to process these rumors and if she would potentially be roped into them in the future. to make matters worse, the catalyst for these rumors shows up during her fitting, furthering her feigning innocence.Â
With a set plan in place, Amy takes the risk to venture into the halls of the castle. No prior knowledge on the layout, Amy finds herself lost, only to discover a familiar face that she decides to finally concede in: the honest, ugly truth.
after two months, a new chapter is finally posted! sorry for the silence, i had a busy november, but i’m so excited to be back and posting for this fic! i’ve missed her and all of you!Â
we’re diving further into the meat of the story; amy has set out to find tails for help with repairing the king’s inhibitor ring, but the halls of the castle are more of a labyrinth than she remembers. thankfully, she finds a familiar face to help out, but this also means confronting the truth she has been hiding all these years.Â
With Amy's plan perfectly executed, she finds herself at Tails's workshop to discuss the repair of the king's broken inhibitor ring. New knowledge about chaos energy is presented to her, but a hard truth is revealed alongside it. Juggling this new knowledge is already difficult enough, but what happens when she greets an unexpected face while digesting everything?
chapter 29 is up and ready! amy finally makes it to tails’s workshop and they have a chat on how to restore the king’s inhibitor ring as well as uncover some new knowledge that amy is unaware of. she’s left to digest all the breakthrough information, but nothing can ever be executed perfectly. she’s met with a familiar face, but she is unsure how she particularly feels about the reunion.
this is probably the last chapter until the new year, so this chapter is lore heavy! i hope y’all enjoy the plot thickening just as much as i currently am <3
Sorry for the absolute radio silence across my social platforms. My social media consumption has been pretty low over the past week and it may stay like that for a minute, but do know I am working on the next chapter of RGitK <3
