The real reason she’s the top stud at this school is that nobody else thought to mix rose petals with basketball
...oh, so you’re a creep too.
oH DUDE THE DUEL ARENA IS ITSELF A ROSE AND THE STAIRCASE FORMS THORNS
THAT’S SO SMART
Oh my god her voice is so much higher than I expected
...is this staircase CG?
I was about to say “this place is so extra they’ve even stencilled the logo on the floor” but no, it’s more that that; this is probably mosaic tile or some shit. I am furious and it looks great.
And I’m not gonna watch the “next time on” because they’re usually spoilery.
That was a hell of an opening episode! Utena charms me immediately, she’s so chivalrous yet goofy. I think I loved her as a character from the moment she started posing while the teacher chewed her out for uniform non-compliance.
Wakaba is a cutie but I get the feeling the poor thing’s going to be left behind. Whenever you have your hero entering a supernatural world, the ‘friend who can’t know’ is a common trope and it seems likely that that’s where she’s headed. Just keep her away from Saionji. What a jackass.
Whatever is behind the Student Council shenanigans-- the End of the World, Dios, the school board-- is a question that’s just barely been hinted at, and I’m already very curious. How much do they even know about the castle, about the provenance of the dueling ground, about Anthy herself? Are they some shadowy apocalypse council themselves, or are they just kids who stumbled into something weird and started playing by its rules?
I’m super excited to get more into this. Unless I suddenly have energy and time tomorrow, I’ll see you next weekend for episode two! And thanks, guys-- I have like 7 followers already! It’s so exciting and I’m so glad you’re here <3
