“How was your ride, my lady” Alona greeted with a warm smile, waiting with her change of clothes to help her get dressed for supper. The blonde was a noble lady and had been sent to act as a lady in waiting for Lady Rhea, a job she greatly enjoyed thus far, more so now that he former husband had vanished from Runestone. There was always more peace when he was away and now he had no reason to return.

“Are you enjoying your visit to Kings Landing, My lady?” Alicent asked with a soft smile, she was seated under a tree in the Godswood, a place she normally went with the Princess, today she sat with Lady Rhea, playing host at her father’s request. Not that she found the task difficult, the other woman was fascinating to her, beautiful and terrifying-- she could not see why Daemon spoke so poorly of her. Emerald eyes took in Rhea, she had a feeling his dislike had more to do with the other woman’s preferences which lined up with Alicent’s own it would seem.

Penelope had been silent from birth, as most were until they met their soulmate, it was the universe's cosmic joke she supposed. The Old Gods way of toying with them if she had to guess. But by age three and ten, she got the feeling she would never be able to speak as she was clearly the ugliest of her sisters, both of whom were already married and haven't shut up since. It was only on a trip with her father to Runestone on business, when she shook Lady Royce's hand and met her eyes did she make a noise, her hand flying to her throat in shock "I can talk--" was likely the dumbest thing she had ever said, but it came out clear as a bell.

A moment later when her brain caught up she looked to the other woman again and froze "I am so sorry--" that she had her as a soulmate, that she wasn't a man, that she just complicated her life.

It had felt right, for a moment. Theldry didn’t think she had misinterpreted the glances she had shared with Rhea in the time she’d been in Runestone. She’d grown to admire Rhea, and then admiration became friendship, and friendship became.... well, that’s when things stopped feeling right. Theldry leans in, and Rhea pulls away, and Theldry tries not to look absolutely crushed and embarrassed. 

“Sorry,” she whispers, hastily turning to look at her lap, the floor-- anything except Rhea herself. She clears her throat uncertainly. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, I-- we don’t have to talk about it.” But if Rhea wants to tell her how she can make herself sink into the floor and vanish forever, that’s worth a discussion.
