People telling me constantly I was too young to be in pain and belittling the pain I felt, doctors included, are the reason I ignored my chronic pain for so long and did myself damage. I assumed everybody was in pain all the time and that it was normal - that must be why everyone was telling me I was being dramatic. Being called overdramatic and lazy for what was very real pain, made me minimise it and stop seeking help until quite literally, my pain reached a level where my movement, career choices, lifestyle, is very restricted. People look at me and see a young adult and criticise me for not helping them lift heavy items, for needing to take breaks from activities, for needing help to get things. They make so many damn assumptions, and even when you try and explain, you still get told you're being lazy. I've had delivery drivers look at me and accuse me of being lazy, that I'm too young to really know what pain is. I'm tired of the stigma. Yes, I'm young. But chronic pain is a very real part of my life. #chronicpain #physicalhealth #fibromyalgia #rhematoidarthritis
