To address the first question, we actually did not have a hard-set age in mind for the trio. In Chapter 1, the trio is around ~14-15. Chapter 2 begins 5 years after the incident, so you are in your early 20s.

To answer your question about Rhiannon, please read under the cut at your own discretion as it may contain spoilers:

No, Rhiannon can not be saved no matter what. It is unfortunately an unavoidable event. BUT, if it is of any comfort or interest to your MC, if you choose to visit Rhiannon's grave in the morning of Chapter 2, you can make her the promise to do your best to find her mother on her behalf. After all, that was her biggest wish.

Talking animatedly to a few Hendrix students, Miriam’s attention was almost immediately grabbed when she noticed Rhiannon walk into the room. It was a bit sad, how she still was the first thing Miriam always noticed, how no one else in the room was able to hold her attention the way Rhiannon did. And still, despite about a thousand voices in her head screaming at her to pretend like she hadn’t noticed, Miriam was still excusing herself from the conversation, making her way over towards her ex with a shy smile on her face, “Thought you weren’t gonna show,” she said in lieu of a greeting, taking a quick sip of her wine, “Parties always feel a bit boring without you.”
