I found out about otherkin, and at first I thought it was ridiculous, but then I stopped that and thought. I'm really wondering what kin I am, because I'm sure I'm kin. I just don't see a lot of information on the ones I think I am. However, whenever people describe me, they say cat. I certainly don't feel cat kin, but even when people just meet me, they see me as a cat (p1)

(p2) I feel like I’m deitykin or elfkin, maybe even rhinokin (I’m sorry if I sound stupid on this, I’m still learning). It’s just that, everywhere I l look, to find out how I can tell, they say it in a very vague way. i.e ‘It’ll come to you’, 'You’ll awaken’, 'You’ll find out eventually’. I’d much rather prefer a solid answer rather than wandering all the time. Is there a way to know?

well, the good news is if you don’t feel like catkin, you’re 100% not catkin! no confusion there

as for a solid answer though, i’ll do my best!! the easiest way to find out if you’re dietykin would, most likely, be to try to find other dietykin on tumblr and compare feelings and experiences! it’s extremely unlikely you’ll find anyone who feels exactly as you do, but if you notice a lot of similarities then there’s a higher likelyhood of being dietykin (check the #dietykin tag for this)

for elfkin, there are a lot of different kinds of elves out there! if you have a specific type in mind, research them, try to find out if any of their myths really feel like they are a part of you. rhinokin is much the same way, ironically; study different species, try to decide if their patterns of behavior and the environment they live in sound right to you.

the nice thing is you can be kin with all three! polykin are pretty common, at least on tumblr. also, remember that it’s okay to change your mind! if you do a lot of soul searching and research and decide you’re kin with these things, then realize you aren’t later, that’s 100% fine
