oc kiss week feat. my rho lavellan and handerfels' rex trevelyan
Rex had thought Rho odd when they first met. And he'd told her so, much to Cassandra's dismay. However Rho had not been offended in the slightest, as there were a number of reasons for him to think so.
First, there was the abundance of flowers. They were everywhere. Placed in her curls, draped over stone walls, weaved around Cole's hat and through The Iron Bull's eyepatch ("They're pretty."). He admitted they kept parts of Skyhold smelling fresh, and the trails of petals were great indicators to her current whereabouts. But the quantity had him flummoxed.
Secondly was the quiet way that she held herself. Rex preferred it to be quiet at most times, many labeling him as stoic, but her silence seemed to never be caused by boredom or disinterest in the going-ons around her. In fact, the atmosphere surrounding the elf was almost calming. A calmness that made even the worst of acquaintances tolerable to one another (Was it Dalish magic? He wasn't so sure).
The smiling was at the top, though. She was always smiling, always smiling, and Rex never knew exactly why. An Orlesian ball was hardly the place to be handing out smiles to every person who passed. Neither was being caked in the gore of their enemies, but there it was, present as usual. That smile that seemed to lighten his heart each time he witnessed it.
However, the more Rex observed and learned of her ways, the more he found himself appreciating them. Because the flowers reminded him of his childhood. Her silence was comforting, in only the way he had ever found solitude to be. And the more she smiled, the more Rex found himself smiling back.
No, she isn't odd, he thought to himself as Rho pressed her lips to his cheek, that ever-present smile permanently etched into the dark stubble. She's Rho.
