And they think maybe, just maybe, it’s okay to seek out companionship with a fight with two literal gods on the horizon. Any port in a storm, as they say. or, a lengthy expansion upon the night before tearstone through the night before minrathous.

morning after scene, just because.
After a moment, their gaze refocuses on Emmrich, who looks perfectly put together. He’s dressed for the day, jewelry and all. “What time is it?” Exhaustion still sits heavy in their bones, still has them feeling like they’re drifting, weight holding them under the water.
“Just after dawn. I’ve only been up for an hour or so,” Emmrich replies happily. Far, far too happily for how early it is. Only been up an hour or so , Kione thinks mockingly.
They stare at him with what must be a look of open disdain.
“I endeavored to let you sleep in.” He adds, only a touch defensive.
“You’re lucky you’re very handsome.” Kione sits up on their elbows a little. A yawn drags from their lips, extending into a stretch. Emmrich’s eyes follow the line of their body, gaze almost hungry. “And sweet. And familiar with the finer points of anatomy," they add.
