I meant to blog my tiny con experience as it happened, but my life has been super busy lately. We had a basement flood and loads of drama and wet junk to throw out, but I was able to make it out to RhodyCon, albeit, a little late. I had originally planned on cosplaying a pokemon trainer, thus the balls I made, but I didn’t have the time or energy. I still had a great time though.
There were a lot of great panels. I love Sarah the Anime Librarian, who did a lot of interesting panels. I got to hold some pretty ball jointed dolls at the BJD panel and it has reignited my desire to own one, like, a tiny one, that is cheap, because I am broke. x_x But yes, that, and some other panels were by the Comiku Girls. Then there was a Cosplaying is Acting Panel and a panel with the Guest of Honor. Basically, I lived in the panel room. I did come out for food though.
The thing about having a tiny one room/building con is that everything is very close. And the auction house that the con is housed in does food, so we had chicken teriyaki, gyouza, curry, mochi ice cream, calpico, ramune, and the list goes on. So I could just get food and go right back into the panel room. ^_^;;
I managed to chit chat with a few more people than last year! Yay! I’m still an awkward turtle, but I felt accomplished. I also played some pinball, which I am bad at, but it is fun. I did a little bit of shopping in the dealer’s area. Oh! I won a piece of art in the door prize raffle, but I forgot the print in my car. I’ll post that later.
Basically, I had fun and I hope they decide to continue again next year! Maybe I should try to volunteer. Then maybe I can convince them to do a little manga reading library ;) I always love those too. Of course, I’d probably have to offer up my collection to be pawed at, but I was just reminded just how much I have as I was shifting around boxes of my manga in the basement! Thankfully, all safe from the flood. <3
