You know what my FAVORITE ending of anything was?

On a “really truly Actually Enjoyed It a LOT” level?

It’s not a show.

But the Gamecube Teen Titans game.

I’ve always loved a good fourth wall break. And they didn’t just break the fourth wall; they utterly SMASHED it.

As a twelve year old, getting spoken to DIRECTLY by my favorite superheroes made it absolutely DELIGHTFUL. (Even if they were telling me off like, “Do you think we’re some sort of plaything?” My humor’s a bit dark and critical anyways, so them being critical At Me was freaking hilarious.)

And the payoff was great too, because they spent the entire game also lowkey breaking the fourth wall, because the plot of the game is “We’re stuck in a videogame and we’re trying to find out who did it.”

So I was expecting something like Teen Titans Go! issue (1 I think? I think it was the very first issue), where it turned out to be one of the villains trapping them in the game. Or like “Don’t Touch That Dial”, where he trapped them in the tv. You know. Standard TT03 stuff. And the entire plot of the game leads you through that line of thought, as they confront Ternion and H.I.V.E and Mumbo, and even Slade! But even HE’S not the mastermind behind this...

And then they turned around and were like, “It’s YOU!”

Caught me SO off guard. I legitimately smiled so hard the first time I beat that game. I have a serious weakness for fourth wall breaks, let me tell you.

That game may have been glitchy and linear and had visible polygons well into the first decade of the 21st century, but it was FUN. The unlockables were super intriguing for a hardcore fan like myself, design sheets and clips from the creators and such.

And that ending still amuses me to think of to this very day, apparently, because I just caught myself grinning all over again.

I was playing White Raven because of course I was and one of my siblings-- I forget who--#youngest sister or brother?-- was playing regular Raven. And even though I won because I'm fantastic at distance PvP games for some reason #the idea of White!Raven being Dove and battling Raven in a mindscape came ot mind. And stuck with me for like FOURTEEN FUCKING YEARS #and that's how the climax scene of DDD-- with Dove battling Raven in Dove's mindscape-- came to be.#And honestly the entire 20 chapters before that was just trying to figure out WHY Raven would be battling Dove...#basically justifying this EPIC scene I had in mind! I still need ot stylistically edit the frick out of that climax.#But that videogame is why the largest and most ambitious fanfic I've ever written EXISTS.#So I also have a lot of fondness for it because of that.... I'm so proud of DDD. It's ridiculous.)

Oh, uhh. Fair warning. You might not see me on Tumblr much, because...

I caught a Misdreavus in Violet!!!!!

Four of them, actually. (And it took 28 Pokeballs! Even with their HP in the reds and being asleep. That FRICKING catch rate, I swear-- Dear gods I am dedicated to these ghosts.)

Somehow three of them have perfect IVs??? And the one I picked has EVERY IV except Defense* at 18+?! (* Which is 0-4, but I'm no stranger to EV training for defense, I've been doing that since Christmas 2007.) I don't know how I did that, but once again the Video Game gods have seen fit to reunite me with my favorite ghosts.

I was so excited when I caught the first one, I tossed my hands up and threw the Switch a little. <XD Not very far, I was sitting on my bed and it just slipped out of my hands. But gosh I was Happy.

(I wasn't expecting it because someone told me they're late game ((love you<3)), but I was battling... something else, just grinding. And I saw one in the background and was like "?! WAITAMINNIT!" And immediately made it my mission to catch one. Except his nature was Not Ideal for a Misdreavus, heightened attack and lowered Sp Def... No. Had to find Another One. Which became another 3.)

So anyways, my Pokemon nerding out is mostly confined to @works-of-magic , but that's more of an RP blog and this is more my game liveblogging blog.

And I wanted to let you all know why I may be missing the next couple days! I have that Misdreavus plus a Gastly to train up to useable levels, because I'm trying something Sorta New where I play the whole game by Playing Favorites. So my target team is all ghosts and birds. X)

And now that I have my favorite (well, favorite line anyways-- Mismagius just BARELY beats Misdreavus out as my Very Favorite), even grinding is delightful. I was so giddy and surprised, my whole world is glowing. I really do love these ghosts to a ridiculous degree. ✨💖💙💖✨

If/when I get Pokemon SV, I’m probably going to go with Scarlet, purely because the professor looks so much like Eda, and that absolutely delights a core aspect of my soul.

...You know, for how long I played Trying, I never fully beat Kaznapped. Or the Teen Titans GBA game, come to think of it... I know with Teen Titans, I was stuck on a level that I simply couldn’t beat. I think maybe it was the part with Mammoth and a train? Or I could be conflating two different parts. I just know I was really STUCK on it... but with Kaznapped, my GBA mysteriously disappeared before I could finish the game. :c

Debating if I want to dabble in emulators again, or buy Kaznapped again and dig out my DS Lite... If you know a good place for GBA emulators, let me know, because I believe the site I used to use was taken down, and there are SO MANY now. But I don’t trust a random Google/Ecosia search result ROM site to be Virus Free, you know? Plus, do they work on Windows 10?

I could watch a Let’s Play, but that’s simply not as engaging for me, which means it’s not as entertaining. Half the fun of those games was figuring it out for myself!

My office is closed today due to some corona-related deep-cleaning they’re doing, so I’m browsing OST music on YouTube, and I realized....

......I never freaking finished Karmaflow.

But I don’t have a mouse I can use on my PC anymore. >.< (I think the family swiped them all, because I used to have not one, not two, but THREE mouses! I had them in the basement, and somehow, even though only one PC besides mine remains in the house, and my sister has her own gaming mouse for it, all of my mouses are just. Gone.)

Heeecccck. The game’s on my PC, and it’s platformed through Steam, so I think I’d need to get a new wireless adapter before I can launch the game, anyways?

Kinda would be worth it though, since 1.) AWESOME MUSIC with PHENOMENAL VOICE TALENT (even if I can’t make out all the words. oops), and 2.) I have SO much free time with my job cutting my hours! (I’m not worried about it because the pay is enough to Still Make Enough Money.) And also, 3.) USB wireless adapters don’t cost too much at all. I still have money leftover. I can afford it now.

Also, I checked Steam, and it turns out Symphony is on sale, so I’mma just Grab That real quick...! (and check if i can play it on my laptop, because it doesn’t have a graphics card, but it has a 3.0+ dual core processor and 4gb ram, so if the game’s not too demanding, it MIGHT make the cut!)

Hhhffff, of all the things I thought I’d be doing because of corona, getting back into Hyper Specific Gaming wasn’t expected. XD

i saw Overwatch graphics and thought the text overlay said “Sonata Arctica”

and was immediately like “OH SWEET. ANOTHER KARMAFLOW!!!”

(karmaflow was a GORGEOUS videogame with voice-acting done mostly through music, which was composed by some of THE VERY best in rock oppear and symphonic metal! the lyrics may have left something to be desired, but the story was intriguing and the graphics were super creative. and the music? *’just right’ finger gesture* Even if the gameplay wasn’t among my all-time favorites, just the whole concept of a ROCK OPERA VIDEOGAME basically wins my soul.)

...but it turned out i misread the text and it said something like “ecosource: antarctica”, and that was the biggest disappointment of 2019.
