The unexpected RHS late night show
Exactly a month ago, it all started with a batty old lady on the train to London; dragging her wheely suitcase awkwardly down the aisle. I turn to leeky S
"That's going to be when I'm older" then a minute later... "Oh! Wait that it me! " and so the laughing commences :D.
Im sure you're thinking where are we going? Well we are heading to a climate change lecture at RHS Lindley library.. or so we thought ;), all will be revealed in the tales of the RHS late night show.
So getting to Victoria was easy and problem free and as the always prepared leekys that we are, we had google mapped our route so getting lost was not an the agenda. Being super early we decided to go on a little stroll admiring the amazing buildings and discovering quirky back streets we've never been before!
After touring the block a few times it was then time for a little Paperchase mission, of course by now it is 6pm and our talk is due to start at 6.30pm so we ran into different stores and yes we were successful in our mission making it to the venue with record speed, we even had time to visit the toliets :D. Oh my what a giggle that was, not only did we make friends with the receptionist having the most interesting conversation about why we didn't want to get the lift with the cleaners. His exact words " Well the cleaning products can be a little strong smelling' Oh that if that was enough to send me into a fit of giggles. The thrilling or rather bumpy ride in the elevator most definitely did.
Having recovered, we waited eagerly for the talk to start. 15mins later still no speaker.. an other 15m still no-one. In the end it was the talk was cancelled, at this point we were about to wander off. When they announced that there was a late night flower show happening next door (of there would be !) and we could go for free!!.
Before we could count to three we were standing in this huge hall surrounded by amazing flowers and food. Where have we landed?! It was so perfect. There were snake head fritillary..
Bonsai stands! Did you know that each bonsai has a front and back?.. Well you do now :P and smallest ever oak tree! :D
There was also food, especially cheese, music and coir pots. Nothing like those 20p coir pots. Totally fantastic and completely unplanned which was even more brilliant.
In true leeky style we then headed to our favourite place to grab a nibble China Town , and settled down for some delicious ice green/fluorescent tea and bento boxes of course. Yes when I said green, I wasnt joking :D
To finish off such a scrumptious meal, we had mango pearl bubble tea. I don't think we've been hushed out of a place as quickly as we were that evening. The lady handed us our drink and said "Okay! Okay! BYE!" holding the door open and standing behind. We had no choice but to leave the shop! Oh wow.
Im not really sure when it is about the bubble teas, but it had this insane effect.. could not stop laughing and giggling. To the point where we descended the escalator and got to the platform to realise we have no idea where we were going! It gets even better, after getting off at King Cross we following the signs to the Hammersmith and City line up the escalator and down the escaroles only to realise we had ended up right back where we started. At this point I can't stand anymore the laughing is to much and we both pretty much collapse with laughter on the escalator. By now Im sure the general public think we are either Drunk, High or just bonkers. Funnily enough we weren't even drinking.
I can assure you we did make it onto the train in one piece and decide to put the coir pots to good use as props for pictures.
I must say I truly love the leeky adventures because they will forever put a smile on my face even weeks&months later. Such a fabulous evening
Stay tuned as next week we try take two in the Lindley Library talks.
But for now Happy May :D
