It never ceases to amaze me when people language police my works. Like, sometimes people tell me, ‘no, you’re saying it to formal, it would be said this way’. Or, ‘this word would be better’.
Someone who read LRTR has a problem with Schmidt calling Bucky ‘ Hündin’ instead of ‘Schlampe’. Because:
to be honest I am not happy to see my mother language misused in correlation to such a brutal story but if you have to know the correct translation of bitch for these situation used it is "Schlampe"
Look, I appreciate the (somewhat rude) assist, but if you actually were reading the story, you would know that Schmidt was quite literally calling (and treating) Bucky as if he were a female dog/bitch. It’s an A/B/O fic. He’s trying to dehumanize him. He even says (of the American military letting an Omega join the Army):
"Don't they understand the overwhelming number of things that can happen to a bitch in heat?" Schmidt chides.
That’s a dog reference.I can understand where someone would want schlampe (bitch/slut) to be used, but that’s not the angle I was going for.
And, to be honest, I don’t care. It’s my fic and I will write Schmidt as a cold, evil fucking asshole if I want to. I don’t care if it’s too brutal of a story. Read the fucking tags! Did you think this fic was going to be about Steve and Bucky playing with My Little Ponies and skipping through the German countryside? FFS. I try to make my fics as believable as possible, and of course with some languages there is a barrier, and I try to accept help and be as realistic as possible. 90% of the time I ignore this kind of stuff if the person is being self righteous, but this right here is the kind of shit that makes me not want to write. Maybe that is the goal for them. IDK.
Well, if there’s anything I want to do now, it’s write more trash.
