ooc: Chapter 1 (Next chapter is them as kids and more)
Chapter 1 Yawning boredly, she walked down the bustling streets of the Rukon District, her hands in her pockets and her expression read, ‘Careless’. Sloppily, her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail, allowing her brunette locks to drape down her bareback. Her shihakshou top was that of the Stealth Force. She wasn’t apart of that squad, but she had easily gotten permission from Yamamoto to wear it, with the approval of each Squad leader. Her bangs hung loosely and shaggily over her forehead, covering just a bit of her slender and naturally thin black eyebrows. Her bright, cerulean colored eyes shinned, as the freckles across her cheeks danced. She had one small freckle that looked like it strayed away from the others and planted itself on the bottom right side of her lip. Her shihakshou pants hung low on her slender hips, as her zanpaktuo Mira hung around her waist. The hilt was beautiful. A bright red. Not to bright and not to dark. Almost like a blood red. It had mixes of black and white in the flamed pattern. The hilt when not in shikai form was a mere cross. But it shikai it took the shape of a flame. In the middle of her thought, a loud roar broke though the silence. Hollow. She nearly broke out into a cheer because she thought she was going to die of boredom. She put on a façade, making it look like she was either annoyed or serious but on the inside, it wasn’t hard to mistake, she was jumping for joy. ‘Finally! Something to do!’ She flash stepped from where she was, to the location of the creature. It was in the middle of the forest. She looked up and nearly growled in annoyance. The hollow was tall, and she was short, but this was ridiculous! She felt like a flea next to it! She chuckled it off and unsheathed Mira. “Burn them to ashes, Mira!” She called out. The zanpaktuo caught fire, a brilliant red burned and showed a flamed hilt, red and white handle and a flamed ribbon at the end. By flamed, I hope you don’t think of a flame style of ribbon. No, actual flame that burned ferociously. Ribeka smirked. ‘You’re excited.’ Shut up. It’s been a while, I’ve gotten bored with your lazy ass! She shook her head slightly to stop the retort she was getting ready to send him. The hollow roared once more and tried to charge her, sending a large foot her way. She held up her blade and blocked it with ease. The hollows form was weird and almost familiar to her. The mast was wide at the top, but slender at the bottom, like a felines head. It had two green horns on the top, and red strips on it’s cheeks like whiskers. The abdomen was large with 4 legs protruding from each side and a long tail with thorns set out randomly along it. It swung it’s tail at her, only to be sliced off. Without realizing it, the hollow had used that as a decoy as it opened it’s jaws and grabbed her in it’s jaws. Ribeka cried out in pain, blood slowly began pouring down her lip. With a tight grip on Mira, she turned the blade with a flick of her wrist and stabbed it into the mask. A loud crack and the hollow dissipated, dropping her and send her to a painful fall. She closed her eyes and awaited the impact. It never came. She opened her eyes and saw that she was safely in the arms of someone. She tilted back in their grip and scoffed loudly. He gave her an annoyed look, his hazel eyes in a scowl. She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and hopped down from his grasp. She turned to face him once more, examining his snow white hair which was done up in a sort of faux-hawk. Well, that was an easy way of putting it. He had it done up like that in the back, but in the front, he had a but of hair that collected in the middle of his head and hung down over his face. ’Like 1 bang?’ She thought idiotically. She could never think of an easier way of describing it. She relaxed as two furry appendages appeared in her hair, as her normal ears disappeared. Next came the tail. It rose over the edge of her shihakshou and dipped over the hemline. She swished her tail back and forth comfortably. He was the only one she felt comfortable with enough to allow her wolf appendages appear. After all, they were best friends. “You’re such a pain in the ass! You know that right?” He growled grabbing a hold of her shoulder in a death grip leading her back to town. She winced under his grasp and kept repeating, ’Owowowowowowowowowowow.’ In her head. “Apparently I do now, since you just told me. Baka.” She teased. “And have been telling me that for years.” His response to her smartass remark was a flick to her ear. She used a freehand to cup her ear, and her other to sheath Mira. “Ow! You know that hurts!!” “Exactly! It gets you to shut up!” She made her ears and tail disappear. Her normal human ears came back. “So where are you taking me, all mighty violent captain of mine?” He growled and tightened his grip by holding onto her other shoulder with his other hand, preparing himself. “The barrac-!” He couldn’t even finish. Without hesitation, Ribeka spun around, kicked him in the shin and fled. “Stupid Kensei! You know I won’t go!” The only reason she wouldn’t go right now, was because he was going to make her do work. She didn’t like work. Well at least the work either consisted of lying to the Lieutenant by bribing her with Kensei’s money, or actually doing to work herself, when it wasn’t even hers. But then there was her choice 3. Flee. Don’t look back. She could hear his angry growling as he chased after her through the busy Rukon District streets. To bad for him, that she was a natural at this. Considering what she was, it gave her amazing flexibility, allowing her to curve into the smallest spaces. While her friend and captain, Kensei, was tall, bulky and not the good at maneuvering through crowds without the occasional stopping to yell at someone out of line. That was something she had to admit, she admired about him. His sense of justice or in this case, his tolerability to idiots. She giggled, and continued running. She looked back but didn’t see him chasing after her anymore. Confusion set trough out her, but she had a feeling that if she didn’t stop she was going to ru-! SMACK! She fell back after colliding with something hard. Or rather, large. She looked up and saw a peeved look on her friend. “You really are a pain in the ass!” He snarled, bending down to pick her up, and throw her over his shoulder. She sighed and casually used her elbow to prop herself up against his back as she stared at the ground. Kensei gripped the back of her thigh to hold her better, slung over his shoulder like a rag doll. “I guess you got me.” She exclaimed nonchalantly. “But can you lower your hand? You know I’m ticklish.” She lied. Well, that was half of the truth. It was an awkward position, especially this casually in public, causing him to get either pervy, disgusted, congratulatory, or alarmed looks from people. Then the other half to that, was that she actually was ticklish there, and she was holding in the thoughts of breaking out into a fit of laughter and risk falling from this height, on her head. He realized what she meant, seeing some of the looks he received and lowered his hand to her calf as he blushed in embarrassment. “Sorry.” He grumbled unhappily. She chuckled and continued to make herself comfortable, sending glares to people who looked at them weird. Kensei relaxed when their barracks came into view. The two of them could hear the loud whining of the Lieutenant, Mashiro Kuna. Ribeka and Kensei both simultaneously sighed in annoyance. “Kensei! Stupid, where are you?!” Her high pitched voice rang out through what was peaceful silence. Kensei let go of Ribeka, sending her to fall to the ground. With a loud thump, and cry of pain, she made brutal contact with the dirt. “Idiot! I’m still injured!” He shrugged it off and glared at Mashiro. “Have you done your work yet?!” She shook her head and stuck her tongue out at him. “I don’t wanna do it!” Ribeka stood up and made her way to Mashiro. She gave Mashiro false hope, opening her mouth as if she were going to help yell at Kensei, but instead, she just opened her mouth then closed it, spun around and flicked Mashiro between the eyes. “Damn it, Mashiro! Listen to Kensei and go do your work!” The only reason she was doing this was because she didn’t want to have to do it herself. She was after all, the 3rd seat so if Mashiro wouldn’t do her work, Kensei would force her to do it. Mashiro covered between her eyes and had a look of hurt. “Beka! You’re so mean~!” “No I’m not! I just don’t want to do your work!” “You’re still mean!” She whined. Kensei smirked, watching the two of them argue in front of him. “Here, I’ll make a proposition with you.” “I’m listening~” “Do your work, and I’ll by you some rice cakes later, any flavor.” She perked up and ran back into the barracks. Kensei looked at his friend in a sort of shock and surprise. She turned around and smiled creepily. “Magic.” Kensei growled, ran a hand over his face then sighed. ‘So I just fucking embarrassed myself for nothing?’ The two of them made their way into the barracks. Once inside, the two walked down the hall, until they reached his office. He went inside but before Ribeka continued walking to her room. “Dumb ass!” She exclaimed loud enough for him to hear. “I heard that!” He yelled from his office angrily. “You were meant to, idiot!” She made her way to the door to his office, opened it, peeked through, stuck her tongue out at him and watched as a vein appeared in his forehead. The paintbrush he held in his hand snapped in half. She laughed and ran out of the barracks. She stopped in the front, looked up at the sky and realized how dark it was getting. She flash stepped so she was up on the roof of the barracks. Quietly, she sat down, hugged her knees to her chest and sighed.
