The Mechanisms ramblings!
Erm erm. Today's topic:
Aurora and Jonny. Their relationship. Their places as the eldest both at the same time. Being siblings. Being attached to Carmilla.
A bit of background! We know that Aurora is an orphan sentient moon made of flesh and organic stuff. Carmilla adopted and raised as her kid. (Don't ask any questions for all this, I have no clue how it works). But at some point, she left or had been kidnapped by ciberians. Ciberians who decided that turning an organic sentient moon into a war spaceship was a good idea. Aurora went throught countless of body's horror and torture and then was used for wars by her tormentors.
Meanwhile! Jonny is kind of adopted by Carmilla after his father and his father figure. He's mechanised and becomes immortal. Somehow, he decided tosteal Aurora and claims her as his own.
What do you think happened next? Carmilla came aboard, right? No one else is here and Carmilla sticked around until Toy Soldier was recruited. And she's immortal so Aurora had to recognized her, right? And they would be both overjoyed to be reunited, right?
Until Carmilla made the presentations. Jonny feels threaten by Aurora because "what do you mean the ship is sentient" and "how did you raised a moon and you never told me". Afterall, he's travelling with her for a while now. They are - as much we know - the only immortals in the whole universe. She saved his life. He must be attached to her.
Meanwhile, Aurora had to feel threaten by Jonny. Because "you replaced me with some kind of wild racoon" and "how can I compete with someone who looks just like her and who can interact naturally with her". Her first impression of him was that he's cruel and violent. And she just got back her mum! She won't let anyone take her away from her!
Carmilla should have been stuck in the middle of tug of war, having to deal with two very traumatized young adults barely out of teenagers years craving her attention. Maybe they even fought (Aurora is winning because... well... spaceship.)
But it settled down. They bond, surely. Because Jonny is concerned with her safety in the track "Aurora's strike". Plus, they love their mum so foghting would make her sad.
And then... the others came in their family. And suddenly, it's not Jonny versus Aurora for Carmilla's attention. It's Jonny with Aurora for taking care of their baby siblings freshly mechanised. Who is the oldest? No one is sure.
But all in all, I think Jonny and Aurora share a very special, sweet, deep siblings bond.
TLDR: Jonny and Aurora are typical oldest siblings and it's a shame we don't have much about them
