In 2014, a group of BJU students decided to create an apology for Bob Jones University’s century-long white supremacist policies by exploiting Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. They stated:
Men like Martin Luther King, Jr. boldly spoke for unity in a culture of segregation. We are proud for our nation and for our school to have abandoned discrimination. To a greater degree, we embrace God’s gift of unity in diversity inside his kingdom; the church unified through the cross.
Notice how they make BJU the hero of the story -- even the story about MLK.
