Mugshot Monday - “Black Fist Mug” by Pottery 32 with Morning Glory Signature Blend by Peace Coffee
This coffee mug is my new favorite. It was crafted by Rich Brown of Pottery 32 out of Hogansville, Georgia.
Such a powerful image and I really have no idea what technique Brown used to create that lovely gradient of color within the raised fist. The beautiful crisp lines are amazing. And I love the matte black with his signature thumb rest.
It’s a powerful mug. I feel lucky -- and inspired -- to have one.
My mug arrived a couple weeks before the announcement of a grand jury’s decision to not prosecute any Louisville police officers in the murder of Breonna Taylor. That’s incredibly disappointing. Justice was not served.
I’ll say it again, because it’s so important: Black lives matter.

Mugshot Monday - “White Speckled Adinkra Mug” by Pottery 32 with Morning Glory Signature Blend by Peace Coffee
This is a beautiful mug. It’s another Adinkra symbol coffee mug made by Rich Brown at Pottery 32 in Hogansville, Georgia.
The symbol from Ghana is pronounced “Bese Saka” and represents the role of agriculture and trade in bringing people together. It literally translates as "Sack of cola nuts”, but it conveys affluence, abundance and unity.
Cheers to that, my friends! 😀
However, it may be some time before we get a sense of “abundance” with the US economy in dire straits due to US leadership ignoring the pandemic.
I have new hope that we’ll get back on track with President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris installing a new aggressive COVID response on January 20.
It’s soooooooo refreshing to hear science being the primary focus used to fight the virus. If we can get it under control, then the economy should be able to rebound.
Let’s hope that’s the case. Happy Monday to you. ☕️

Mugshot Monday - “Blue Adinkra Mug” by Rich Brown of Pottery 32 with Morning Glory Signature Blend by Peace Coffee
The art on this mug is an Adinkra symbol from Ghana meaning "Help me and let me help you" (“Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo”). It is a symbol of cooperation and interdependence.
The mug’s maker is Rich Brown of Pottery 32 in Hogansville, Georgia.
I remember finding him on Instagram (@Pottery32) looking through #MugshotMonday posts back in 2017 and being mesmerized by his demo videos.
He’d be calmly making an amazing mug or trimming a plate or glazing some bowls while jazz or hip hop was playing in the background.
He’s just so focused and his whole vibe is inspiring. He’d write, “This is me working. This is my work.”
In a recent interview, Brown explains his passion for making functional pottery and his love of making mugs:
“The mug is my favorite piece to make because every day at some point in the day someone is going to use a mug. I’m a part of somebody’s day and my energy is with that person so whether its a good day or a bad day, I’m always with someone.”
I love that. I’ve been wanting to buy one of Brown’s mugs for a while, but they sell out fast. I feel super lucky that I was able to get this Adinkra mug because it’s fantastic.

Cappo - Houses [Audio]
Set two decades after where S.T.A.R.V.E. left off, Houses is a temporally linear day-in-the-life narrative, presented as a series of musical vignettes. The narrative focuses on a fictional working-class early-middle-aged father of two in contemporary Nottingham, England, as he struggles to come to terms with the societal restrictions, conformities, and benefits of fatherhood. The piece is set to…
Mugshot Monday - "Black Fist Mug" by Pottery 32 with Snowshoe Seasonal Blend by Peace Coffee
Over the weekend, video was released showing Memphis police murdering Tyre Nichols during a traffic stop. I won't watch the footage, but the descriptions have been horrific.
It feels like nothing has changed since George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police in 2020.
This coffee mug I'm holding was made by Rich Brown of Pottery 32 out of Hogansville, Georgia.
Brown is one of my favorite potters. I bought this awesome mug in September 2020 and the week it arrived, news hit that Louisville police officers would not be charged in the murder of Breonna Taylor.
All 5 officers involved in Nichols' murder were fired and charged with second degree murder, so maybe there is some change happening?
It's not changing fast enough.
Tyre Nichols should be alive today. Black Lives Matter.

Your Next Hair Choice Rich Brown hair!
Rich brown has a different color than regular brown hair, it is more intense and more colorful. If you refuse to dye your hair dark black or brown, you do have more options than ever before, and hair stylists are activating brown by using some warm colors. For example, brown with caramel or brown with ginger. These colors come from life, such as the gold of honey, the rich brown of chestnut, or the yellow of ginger. The reason for choosing a warmer color is because the warm tones reflect the light in your hair better and neutralize the dullness of the darker tones, thus making your hair look shinier and healthier.
