heyy! I'm so glad you loved simon vs, also you're reading the book i can't find anywhere, i really want to read openly straight and it's just.. ugh. i guess i'll have to order it but pls tell me is it good? also sorry for attacking you out of nowhere, hope ur having a great day :3
hey, i was about to write you about simon vs because this book just blew me away. i wasn’t really expecting a lot tbh (tumblr book recs are always a risky thing for me, most times i’m pretty disappointed) but fuck, simon vs was so awesome, i told my flatmates all about it and wow. i haven’t read such an awesome book in a long time.
about openly straight: i ordered it together with simon vs because finding english books in a bookshop is a miracle around here and I’m at page 68 of 320.
so far it’s pretty cool. i’m not as crazy about as i was about simon vs. the problem is that the main character meets like ten new people in the first twenty pages + the hiding of his sexuality + new school + old friends + parents. it doesn’t feels rushed so far but it feels like the author could have cut at least one of these things.
i’m not a really a fan of pretending to be something you’re not and rafe’s problem with his sexuality feels a little bit made up, bc the only reason why he’s lying about being gay is bc he doesn’t want to label himself but apparently has no problems being known as a jock at his new school??? oO
i think it’ll need a few more pages to really get me into it - bc there’s not really a story like in simon vs it’s jut him trying to fit in with people who think he’s something he’s not.
this doesn’t mean that i think it’s a bad book. i guess i expected a bit more after the reviews on amazon. but i think my opinion might change the more i read.
also you’re totally not attacking me don’t worry and my day isn’t that great (too hot, i fucking hate summer) but i really don’t mind being attacked.
