Benrubi Gallery presents ‘Manhattan Sunday’, the gallery's second solo exhibition by Richard Renaldi. Today is the last day to visit it.
INSPIRATION: Photography and Imaging alumnus Richard Renaldi
Since 2007, Richard Renaldi has been working on a series of photographs that involve approaching and asking complete strangers to physically interact while posing together for a portrait. Working on the street with a large format eight-by-ten-inch view camera, Renaldi encounters the subjects for his photographs in towns and cities all over the United States. He pairs them up and invites them to pose together, intimately, in ways that people are usually taught to reserve for their close friends and loved ones.

We all start out as strangers
Excited to see Richard Renaldi's talk tonight at the AS220!
I was recently introduced to Renaldi's series, Fall River Boys, which caught my eye for two reasons:
1. The photographs are amazing
2. Fall River, MA is practically in my backyard - only a 5 minute drive across the river.
I look forward to hearing what Richard has to say about his experiences while photographing Fall River Boys. If he decides to spend some time talking about some his other projects as well, I will not be disappointed. Along with Fall River Boys, I highly suggest you check out Touching Strangers and See America By Bus (both shown above). These are just a few of my favorites.
If you happen to be in Providence tonight, come on by the AS220 (115 Empire Street) from 5-7pm.
