Did y'all know about the [Sigil Engine]? It's a sigil generating website - you just type in your statement of intent and boom, insta-sigil. It's even programmed to show you how it breaks down the statement of intent that you type into it, and animated to draw the sigil, it's pretty cool.

"We based the process on the Kamea model blended with the standard phrase model. We used a circle instead of a square as it creatively worked better, and as a nod to the Goetia."

Pretty cool.

Oh yo, while I was on hiatus apparently there were laws changed in Canada about witchcraft!

Previously in Canada, it was illegal to fraudulently practice witchcraft up until 2018 - not practice witchcraft, but "fraudulently" practice lol.

Now if you commit fraud and you practice witchcraft it doesn't matter that you're a witch - it's just considered regular fraud and not special fraud.

Also they apparently tried to nail someone with charges with this law 2 days before it was repealed, lmao, nice work Canada. 🤣

I am working on an "about me" post since pinned posts are a thing now and holy christ I missed SO MANY quality of life fixes in 7 years.

And I am so torn between "make it more serious with links and tags (spelling error lmao) and stuff for people to find resources easier" and "make it funny and silly and meme-y because you're just an idiot goofball who wants to have fun on Tumblr."

It's so hard to do both at the same time lmao.

My cat is the anti-thesis to productivity. I originally woke up at 2PM. It took me another 90 minutes to get out of bed because he wanted to cuddle.

My fever broke yesterday so I'm working on sigils today! :D

Thank you for the welcome back! It's interesting seeing what's changed and what hasn't, I basically haven't used Tumblr consistently since like 2018 😅 It's nice and warm that people remembered me though ❤️

I pulled out my archive folder of sigils last night; they go back over a decade and that's wild to me (not only that I've been doing this for so long but also that I still have most of the original drafts). But I can see a clear difference in design choice and thinking between the early years of my sigilwork and what I'm doing now. Back then I prioritized complex, arcane looking designs to make them look as magic and "intricate" as possible - the more complicated and cryptic, the better. Now, I want to make them as easy to draw as I can; if I can draw the whole design without lifting my pencil, that's the sweet spot of design to me.

Even when I was still posting here regularly, I could see design choices from even a year prior that I would no longer make, so this musing on my sigils changing isn't new. It just sort of floors me every time how tiny the steps to change can be, and then it's something entirely else before you know it.
