The Germans
Rick Zabel did one of the sprints of his life to reach the ski resort of La Rosière. He was five seconds outside the time cut but the commissaires kept him in the race. Whether they showed clemency because he was so close or if he was given extra time because of traffic in the race convoy on the final climb isn’t clear. What’s certain is he can race for another day, but he’s now without his sprinter Marcel Kittel and he’s got the Madeleine, Croix de Fer and Alpe d’Huez tomorrow.
