The Great Depression via Rickie Jacobs
Let me start by saying the universe has blessed me in so many ways that I couldn’t imagine, while receiving these blessings I never took full advantage of every opportunity that was presented to me during my “claim to fame.” I did some great things but there was no direction. I met some great people that were genuine, willing to help but as soon as I open up to them they gave me their ass to kiss. I did so many things man, for myself, by myself. Now, I’m not blaming anyone for my personal failures but at the same time when you make promises that things are going to work out on your end then I trust you do get things done, which is probably my biggest mistake ever. I’m not the one to put people on blast, that does nothing for me but I just want every artists to know that people are only here for the moment, your moment until there’s nothing to celebrate. Protect yourself, build a team with your day 1 people, it’s easier to deal with because you start messing with these strangers and you fail, they’re gone. Social media has turned up at a rapid pace, it’s almost difficult to keep up with everything. I see more bad news than good, I see more divisions, less unity, unpopular opinions, ignorance, so much negativity and while getting my personal sh*t in order the things I see on my news feed is breaking me the f*ck down. “Where’s the new music?” A question I use to get a lot but now and days nobody really cares… I kind of boycotted myself because it was just a lot going on and I wasn’t seeing any progress. I never quit, I never gave up, I just had to take a break to see who was really down with me, who was committed and I got my answers–NO ONE! I mean I was told this was a business but damn, n*ggas owe me a phone call… Moving forward none of that mattes, I take that as a lesson that took too long to come my way. I deleted all my social media platforms, I don’t need to indulge in that world. To say I’m bigger than that isn’t arrogant, it’s the truth! However, I still have some bars left in the tank and for what it’s worth I’ll forever love the music and I’ll keep creating until I can’t anymore. I just want to thank my good friend Buck, Shake/2dopeboyz, John Gotty/TSS crew, Nate Santos, DJ Z/DJ Booth, Al Shipley/City Paper, Wesley Case/The Baltimore Sun, Lowkey/UHTN, Nicolas James/HNHH, Tate Kobang, Ryan Chance, and the city of Baltimore!!!
