From Russia with ...cropping??
Back in 2010 Esquire Russia ran a feature of some of my punk photos.
But for some weird reason they ended up cropping the heck out of a lot of them.
After many emails back & forth asking them to fix it. I eventually gave up.
The language barrier proved too much.
They reordered them, adjusted the contrast, removed a few. Everything but correctly sizing them.
It’s annoying that this sort of thing happens from time to time, but nonetheless, nice to see a slice of the ol' punk rock getting a bit of exposure in the Soviet Union.
'BEHIND THE LENS' is a new feature on the Howies website. Giving the viewer an insight & backstory into certain photographs. The first one is of a photo of mine taken back in 2002.

Style for miles. Alex Kennedy - effortless up rail toboggan. Berlin, Germany 2010
This was used in issue 75 of DIG BMX mag as part of the Nike 'Partners in crime' series.
Photography can be very easily misconstrued. When you look at a still image you never know what’s really happened in a scene. This becomes especially evident with street photography where people are generally moving quickly and every movement is so fleeting. All part & parcel of the intriguing beauty of photography:)
Ade from howies and Dom from Wold met up in mid-Wales for a ride to the coast by howies HQ.
They rode two hand built howies x Wold cyclocross bikes over the mountain terrain, boggy tracks and winding roads and rocky paths in as straight a line as possible.
53 miles, 2 hand built bikes, Mountains to sea, As the crow flies.
