ANYWAY. This was so much better than what I imagined but oh my god. The funny cute banter between Scar and Mumbo that is like barely inches from flirting. The teasing. The little jokes. Scar's fascination with "human stories." His excitement over the most mundane of memories, the minecart ride and the discoveries AND THEN WHAM, HURT!! ANGST!! NO COMFORT!! "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" AND THE RUNNING AND THE SHEER PANIC OF IT ALL OHHFDSHHAH-

Okay. Okay lemme back it up. Man the cute domesticness at the start, the little signs of Mumbo warming up to Grian (my dear readers that scene originally went very different and as good as the original was I am delighted by the change). I still can't get over the mental imagine of "Scar! :D And Grian :|" but he's warming up and he's becoming fond of the bird boy and aaaaaa I love them and they love each other <3 Helping Mumbo do something as boring and domestic as make item frames and just mmmm <3

And Grian getting lost in his memories. Like he was in two places at once, in his head and physically (that is such a mood ngl, me every time I walk across my grandmother's farm jkgfdkj). The concern Mumbo and Scar have about him getting lost in thought and Scar's excitement over him getting a little flash of a mundane little memory aaaaa <3

THE ONES WHO CAME BEFORE I LOVE IT. I mean you know me you know I love a good ancestors and city ruins plot. AN ANCIENT MOB FARM KJFJKSJKFSJK at least they get the idea to dig around it. My god Mumbo's immediate "No you are not building a bridge here" and trying to be Intimidating™ and Firm™ and Scar just looking him dead in the eyes and lighting the torch to send him scuttling back like the wet cat he is under his vampirism HJKFSJLFKJSL I LOVE THEM SO FUCKING MUCH also the "I'm not as flammable as Scar says I am" WHY DO I GET THE FEELING YOU ARE LYING MR. JUMBO HUH?? HUH????

Anyway Grian just SEEING the purple light in the distance and knowing it's the Rift and immediately being mesmerized by it, drawn forward. God I want to see that scene from Scar and Mumbo's pov, Grian just running past them and flying and just jkfgkjdkj. AND THEN. THEN THE RIFT????? PUTS HIM IN A MEMORY???? I legit thought for a moment that Grian was remembering his home falling apart and then it just turned out to be an accident and then Mumbo and Scar's voices and words just melded with the memory?? dream?? and he had no idea what was really happening AND ALMOST WALKED STRAIGHT INTO THE RIFT I AM SOOO JKDSJKFJKS

AND SCAR SCREAMING. SCAR REALIZING WHAT'S HAPPENING AND SCREAMING AND GRABBING GRIAN IN POSSIBLY THE MOST PAINFUL WAY SO HE CAN DRAG HIM BACK WHILE THE RIFY TRIES TO EAT GRIAN?!?!?! THE RIFT REACHING OUT FOR THEM AND INJURING THEM??? OR ONE OF THEM IDK HOW MUCH I CAN SAY BC GRIAN IS DISASSOCIATING AND THE FEAR AS HE REALIZES WHAT'S HAPPENED AND THAT THE RIFT LURED HIM IN AND EVERYONE SCREAMING WONDERING WHAT'S HAPPENING AND SCAR YELLING AT MUMBO TO STAY AWAY FROM IT AS HE BODILY DRAGS GRIAN AWAY AND THEY RUN AND DON'T STOP AND THEY JUST RUN AND RUN BECAUSE THEY NEED TO GET AWAY (ARE THEY BEING CHASED TOO??? IF SO BY WHAT SCAR SCRAMBLED AWAY FROM THE HOLE AND MUMBO SEALED IT IMMEDIATELY JKSLK) AND OH MY GOD THEY HAVE CHOSEN THE WORST POSSIBLE OPLACE TO PUT A VAULT-

BUT. The first time, when Grian went through the first time it showed him grassy fields........ it didn't lure him in with a memory/dream IT TEMPTED HIM IN. BUT IT DIDN'T CONSUME HIM THEN. WHAT'S HAPPENING. But god imagine seeing grass and sunlight only to walk through INTO A FUCKING CAVERN. AND THE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS BEING CHASED I AM WONDERING NOW AND I AM. SO FEARFUL. STITCH. S T I T C H. WHAT IS HAPPENIIING EVERY TIME I THINK I KNOW YOU THROW A WRENCH IN IT HHJSDJHJKFSKJ

I am clapping from my glass lil box of emotions though bc have the two of us in our dms last night while we freaked out about each other stories was the most fun I’ve had w writing in ages and genuinely so much joy in my heart. 😊 I much much much prefer ‘Grian [neutral]’ I think but man there is something about Mumbo slamming his metaphorical door shut in the original scene too. But also yes the domesticity of storage organization. They’re all so married already its sort of insane.

AND YES SCAR TRIPPING which was inspired by the fact that getting into and out of rollercoasters for myself is a fucking time and a half tbh. Fun fact what you DIDN’T see was the original where Mumbo bit into it – the only reason I changed it is because it was weird having the non-POV character teleport away. The tension of the scene got muddled. Also peacing out w a chorus fruit in the middle of an argument about who should actually use the damn thing seemed like either a very Grian or Scar thing to do anyway sooooo. BUT YES HE JUST. IMMEDIATELY CAREENS ONTO HIS CHIN. Bless his hollow boned ass. They’re all such wet cats.

I picture mumbo as one of those tuxedo cats who just always looks like they are Up To Something. Slinking around. Making a lot of ruckus but then always sitting politely when you go to check on them. Batting at everything and anything. You get the drift. He is. SUCH a wet cat

One of my favorite like. Bad??? Things?? [Well. Not necessarily always – disassociation and getting lost in your memories can be good for you in certain places for sure] the human brain does is go “Mmm hey there’s this Thing That Happened but instead of thinking about it directly we’re going to make you spiral around it like a bathtub draining and THEN let you remember what it was.” You know? Idk I think it’s a really interesting aspect to like, healing from trauma/how the brain deals with difficult memories. It helps, too, that there’s definitely Weird Magic Things at play too, which is a really interesting way to examine it. IDK one of my favorite aspects of fiction is how we can explode the human condition outwards to utterly ridiculous lengths in order to really peel back the layers of our own experiences and study them and learn from them/how to deal with them. And then the fact that not only is Scar Concerned and Excited but Grian has even attracted Mumbo’s Concern like. Mumbo Jumbo you are not living down the ‘Actually Cares About The Bird’ allegations.

And the Avian you’ve grown fond of who occasionally does work for your lowkey criminal empire is walking towards it and not responding to you screaming his name and you have seconds to act and you GRAB HIM BY HIS WING which is a thing that’s already been shown to be a little bit sensitive [a lotta bit sensitive] and you feel the feathers pull out under your hand but you have to pull him away and as you do TENTACLES OF LIGHT BURST FORTH FROM THE RIFT, REACHING FOR HIM, SEARCHING FOR HIM [their POV is gonna be. Fuked.] AND ITS ALL YOU CAN DO TO GET AWAY BUT THE DAMN THING GRABS ONTO YOU AND YOU CAN FEEL THE SKIN OF YOUR ARM BRUISING AND TEARING AS YOU PULL YOURSELF AND GRIAN AWAY FROM IT I CANNOT BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS SCENE, OKAY? OKAY. AND THEN YOUR BEST FRIEND ALMOST LOVER ISS WATCHING AND ABSOLUTELY TRYING TO GET CLOSER TO HELP BECAUSE, I MEAN, HELLO, AND YOU CANT LET HIM get any closer, you can’t let whatever the hell this is touch him, hurt him, so you start just screaming. Verica reacting to Luscinia: I'm afraid I didn't get the reference to green playwrights, do explain if you feel like it! I think at first she'd be both excited to meet a fellow musician and trying to hide the Strong Undercurrent of Jealousy (due to not being able to truly sing anymore herself). once she gets to know luscinia better i think she'd just feel sad for her and avoid her/the topic of her though

Pule and Bruiser with Science: Bruiser afraid in a corner as Pule cackles maniacally about some bubbly flask. Bruiser is just not very into the types of art that don't involve someone getting knocked out by way of Fist

Vince and Pule having interacted: Buddy have they ever /incredibly entertained. They were roommates on Deimos when they started uni, Pule kind of indirectly killed Vince and then died of misery himself and then they reunited and made up about it (there was never a Problem in the first place, thinks Vince. How is he so fucking easy about forgiving what I didn't know, Pule despairs). nowadays they're in a polycule with verica. pule's the guy who just hangs out and doesn't date anyone and they all love each other. i think they get married about it also (yes the three of them)

Vince and pule with Science Guys that i Can't Immediately Find On Your Blog: that sounds like a pretty immediate pairup between vince and Research Person and pule with Wacky Person. do please add links and/or explanations (again, if you feel like it) so that i may assess Closer. reasoning: vince is very used to the theoretical side of things and also used to teach it at university level. pule has only gotten more hands-on with warframification

If you were struggling with Zariman missions, I'd say stay far away from Steel Path for a while still. Not for any gatekeeping nonsense reasons, but because you likely wouldn't have fun with such a drastic difficulty spike (not only are the levels 100 higher, enemies are tankier even on top of that!) and there is no reason to go kill your fun like that

In the meantime I can recommend trying to get more comfortable with the Zariman missions and Elite Sanctuary Onslaught if you wanna keep climbing up in levels, and moving on to Arbitrations after if that's your cup of tea (Galvanized mods from Arbies are a huge boon for Steel Path as well!)

These are just some vague thoughts but you got me thinking, so:

We don't know how long the Drifter spent on the Zariman before ending up in Duviri (I feel like Quite A While since Duviri seems to be overall timeloopy and "death works differently" there, so I'm extrapolating that all the aging that Drifter has done they did on the Zariman)

Melica is comparable to a ghost or someone with dementia, repeating old patterns they aren't aware no longer match the world around them. Your task during Zariman bounties is to treat her with kindness and match your reality to hers, so to say, and it seems to be a standard procedure for the Holdfasts

I feel like these two things together could've led to Drifter treating Ordis in a much more human way and Ordis responding in kind (of course assuming Drifter's Zariman also had a surviving but damaged Melica)

Okay that's all I've got but now I'm just rotating in place about Cephalons and the Ordis-Drifter dynamic and how Operator And Ordis Should Be More Friends Than This, Dang It

i haven't gotten around to do zariman bounties since That One Fateful Night... but god that sounds so nice. i've worked a tiny bit with people with dementia once and it (the disease, the thought that it could happen to me, not the people) scares the hell out of me but lowkey teaching the players that is very nice of warframe

okay taking your idea for a spin - dyou reckon the drifter would have at first been like oh shit. this cephalon sounds mildly borked. i better treat him nice like melica. and it took them a while to realize that ordis isn't as borked as she is? and how one night they just go. wait. you're actually like more than halfway fine aren't you. and ordis- yeah the idea is spinning wildly out of control thank you for the contribution to my brainworms. they will feed off of this for a Good While.

i desperately need to know how drifter & drifter's!ordis met now. god. because in that timeline... maybe there *were* other tenno who did take the man in the wall's deal, and the Old War went on as normal, just without the child who would become the Drifter. maybe one of the tenno has something happen to them & their cephalon ordis is left to float around a bit uselessly? maybe he doesn't want to report back because he failed his task of keeping them safe (not his task but that doesn't stop him from taking it on) and he ends up in a guilt-spiral? agh

Do you have anything on warframes sleeping? I'm trying to decide if they do in my 'verse and if yes then how exactly it works and I was wondering if you had any Thoughts

in my universe i think i've decided that they do need sleep, mostly because i think it'd be nice if they did. this gives me narrative freedom & tools, you see, but i have actually come up with Lore Friendly Reasons Why

mechanically, since the orbiter does not Have Sleeping Places & since warframes are fucking awesome from a biological perspective, warframes can either go into a deep hibernation - for this they need to lay down like a human or risk falling over and looking silly - or a lighter, perfectly warframe-sleep-needs-fulfilling going-slightly-offline state they can get into while sitting/kneeling (like on the login screen). it looks like deep meditation & they're still partially there, just also.. not entirely. i don't think they dream outside of deep hibernation.

my reasoning for this (beyond Yay Narrative Tool) is that sleepiness & sleep does stuff with chemicals in your human brain, right. being awake for too long gets you buildup of certain stuff in your head that makes you feel tired & it gets cleared out while you sleep. i am of the opinion that the warframe equivalent of a human brain has the same functional debuff.

the deeper hibernation would be for things like long periods of waiting, or having to heal without the help of a helminth infestation. since warframes do not have mouths but still perform actions that expend energy, i think they do a kind of cosmic background radiation/void fuckery photosynthesis to generate their own energy. this can obviously happen whether a warframe is active, slumbering or dormant, so that gives them the same refreshed feeling after a good night's sleep that humans get.

disclaimer i am not a biologist or chemicist or basically know anything about the human body. i'm a programmer, all i know is coffee (black tea) goes in and code comes out

Do you have any advice on fighting necramechs? Y'know, for the necramech parts? The only time I've attempted an isolation vault bounty so far, I put up a fight but still got my ass handed to me in the end :(

Hi Operator Sam!! I'm afraid you are at completely the wrong address here as i have literally never done that content. Oops.

I bought the parts off of the warframe market (run void fissures and sell the parts for plat, is the quickest guide to doing that), and if you want to do bounties that you're not sure about yourself, what i usually do is read the wiki real quick and then hop into public matchmaking and hope for the best. which might be a little bit rude but people tend to be chill about it, until they aren't

i'm activating an emergency help line here @space-ninja-fashion-show knows More about it than i do, which isn't hard, because i know Nothing about this
