truly I hate b*rok van dicks apologists sooo much trying to make excuses for his racism like. first of all you cannot say it was "of the times" because he literally didn't used to be racist. like he started out as not racist and BECAME racist. also it's so narratively weak because he's literally a very good prosecutor and to jump from "japanese man killed my brother [and also all these horrible people]" to "japanese people are awful" is so ridiculous like 1. the perceived outlier should be a red flag and 2. even if said japanese man killed his brother in cold blood he really should not be stupid enough to take that as an indictment against the japanese. to do so is a failure of intellect and he's not stupid like the rest of you freaks clearly are.
what would be much more sensible and narratively interesting is if he recognized Karuma, the Asogi clan's sword, and thought Ryunosuke was an Asogi or was coming to "avenge" Genshin Asogi's death. THAT would be so crazy, especially when Kazuma regains his memories and takes his sword back and van zieks realizes that Ryunosuke is just some guy. this way he still gets the misplaced resentment/hatred except the reasoning behind it is a lot stronger.
