Huuuuuuge fan of Hey Arnold! actually. It’s one of the handful of cartoons that I have seen every episode of multiple times.

I’m a particularly big fan of Helga Pataki. I related to her a lot growing up, especially her rather… unfortunate home life situation. I certainly had that in common with her.

I really loved your Timon and Pumbaa comic strip, you can be proud of your work 👏👍, do you think you could do one one day with Guy and Sam, green eggs with ham?

Thank you so much!! And, maybe someday. I’m not currently in my GEAH hyper fixation, and I generally need to be hyper fixated to have the motivation to make a comic because HOOOO BOY it’s a lot of work.

Do you see any similarities in the behavior of the duo Timon and Pumbaa and Pinky and the Brain?

HELL YEAH. Both pairs are hella weird about each other and a lil bit (a lotta bit???) homoerotic. 😮‍💨

Okay, in all seriousness, yeah I do think there are some similarities other than them just being AMBIGUOUSLY GAY WEIRDOS. (Although this might be a better question for @timona-lisa because, although l'm also a lifelong PatB fan, she's way deeper in the Brinky trenches than I am!!! Hi Ai! 👀)

ANYWAYS, I'm assuming you wanted a serious answer and not me just being Old Man Yaoi trash, SOOOO. Let me just put on my Professor Glasses™ really quickly 👓

They are both kind of… “odd couple” comedic duos, aren’t they? Contrasting personalities that make them fun to watch interact with one another. Pinky and Brain are more the “straight man and the fool” archetype, whereas Timon and Pumbaa lean more into that “odd couple” dynamic, although they are certainly the “straight man and the fool” as well, but with a twist (the “smart one” doubling as the fool, in Timon’s case.)

Both duos fit the “schemer and heartfelt innocent” archetype as well, with Timon and the Brain both being planners, sarcastic, and bossy, and Pumbaa and Pinky both being sincere, literal-minded, gentle optimists that sucker punch their other halves with emotional insight and unexpected wisdom.

Timon and the Brain both believe they are the smartest ones in the room, and they both carry a very similar core flaw in that their egos blind them to the intelligence of their partners. However, with Timon, this “ego” of his is more fueled by fear, insecurity, shame, and the NEED to be indispensable so he won’t be abandoned.

The Brain, in contrast, seems to be more fueled by a need for control over his situation, especially given his identity as a genius lab mouse in a world full of nonsensical cartoon antics. And there is, perhaps, something to be said about the way his schemes always fail, almost like he enjoys PLANNING world dominion with Pinky more than actually SUCCEEDING in world dominion. (BUT, I’m sure someone more well-versed in Pinky and Brain’s dynamic could give a more insightful answer than me—I’m more of the Timon and Pumbaa over-analyzer, here.)

And then you have Pumbaa and Pinky, who both kind of act as the emotional intelligence and moral compass of the duos. They are both pure-hearted, deeply loyal, and sorely underestimated by their counterparts. Pumbaa, on the surface, seems to be more naive and slow-witted, but he’s hiding a deeply emotionally intelligent core that is worldly, wise, and insightful.

Pinky is a lot more fast-moving, fast-talking, and chaotic than Pumbaa, and while he often spouts nonsense, he’s oddly self-aware about it??? And he also hides an emotionally intelligent and wise side, just like Pumbaa, that keeps Brain grounded.

And then the fun thing is that both duos invert the viewer’s expectation of who is actually in control. Like, Timon THINKS he’s the brains of the outfit, but Pumbaa carries both of them emotionally and morally. And Brain thinks he’s the leader, but Pinky is constantly either derailing or even accidentally improving his plans.

Also, it has to be said that BOTH duos share a deep, weird, codependent love for the other that can withstand just about ANYTHING.

Anyways, I love them. I ache for them.

And Brain and Timon are more similar than they realize, and BOTH OF THEM would hate that I said that. 🤣

Hi how are you,I saw that you did some sketches of the characters from the Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham a long time ago, What did you think of the second season and could you Make colored drawings of the characters from this series one day?

Hi!!! I was a big, BIG fan of Season 1 of Green Eggs and Ham! I was particularly into the Sam-I-Am and Guy-Am-I ship, not gonna lie. The subtext was basically TEXT. LMFAOOOO

Now… I was SUPER excited for Season 2, but I ended up not enjoying it as much as Season 1. It felt odd to me that they kept Guy and Sam away from each other almost the entire season, and not really even pining to get back to one another (which is the only acceptable character separation arc I enjoy. lol.)

But the animation was nice. It’s just… the main thing I liked from Season 1 was the Guy x Sam dynamic, and that was basically absent from Season 2.

ANYWAYS. Maybe someday I will make more fanart for it, who knows!!

Do you think Timon and Pumbaa would fit into Zootopia?

I do!!

In fact, I have an entire AU that I like to play around with where Timon Berkowitz, esq., is Zootopia’s sleaziest lawyer (a la Saul Goodman, hello, hello.) Basically, he’s a chaotic, infuriatingly effective, and wildly unethical defense attorney that specializes in getting crooks, con artists, and outright criminals off the hook in the most infuriating ways possible.

He never technically breaks the law, but he hunts for loopholes and bends the rules so hard they practically snap. All of the judges dread it when The Meerkat walks into the courtroom, and all the other prosecutors want to strangle him. But boy, his (very guilty) clientele LOVE HIM.

He dresses in loud, gaudy suits that he somehow manages to pull off, and he runs super obnoxious, smarmy TV ads, and he plasters billboards with giant pictures of his face all across Zootopia. He also has a reputation for theatrics in the courtroom, and he pulls stunts that range from fake-crying in an attempt to make the jury pity him, to arguing so aggressively that the judge threatens to duct tape his mouth shut. He also manipulates the system so key evidence becomes inadmissible, twists witness statements until everyone is confused, gets cases thrown out on technicalities and then smirks on his way out of the courtroom.

Timon fell into the lawyering business when he was a young meerkat unsure of what he was gonna do with his life, and he ended up getting in trouble with the law for some kind of petty crime (probably con artistry with a side of theft LOL,) and he got assigned the city’s worst public defense attorney. He couldn’t stand how terrible this lawyer was at representing him, so he fired them and decided to represent himself, and proceeded to ARGUE HIMSELF OFF THE HOOK. And he realized how good he was at it and how thrilling it was! Hahaha

Pumbaa, meanwhile, is his closest companion and business partner at his firm, (and they are lowkey in looooOoooOoove), and he is basically the reason the whole thing hasn’t been run into the ground yet.

Pumbaa handles a lot of the paperwork and research into the ACTUAL LAW, while Timon is out crafting fool-proof arguments and being morally bankrupt. He’s constantly stressed and on Timon’s tail when it comes to making sure no laws are being broken and that they are operating in good faith. He wants them to be a reputable law firm, darn it! He is constantly cleaning up Timon’s messes (both legal and personal,) and he’s the REAL reason their clients don’t immediately go back to jail.

Also, Mya and Kanisha are in it too, because of course they are. Mya is a frighteningly competent private investigator that Timon owes a LOT of… um… FAVORS to (since he’s kinda broke and she does a LOT of digging for him,) ALSO, they’ve got a bit of an enemies-with-benefits dynamic LMAOOOO. And Kanisha is an ex-military, ex-ZPD officer who now works as private security for the boys!!

Also Timon is a (barely) high functioning alcoholic in this AU too ☠️

There is so MUCH STUPID LORE to this AU,including the fact that Timon is under the thumb of a terrifying jaguar crime boss named Santi, but I’m gonna shut up now because literally NO ONE ASKED. 🤣

SORRY FOR RANTING LMAOOOOO I don’t think I have ever had a chance to talk about this AU, but you said “Zootopia” and “Timon and Pumbaa” in the same sentence, so I went off 😮‍💨

TO BE HONEST, I am DYING for a T&P cameo in Zootopia 2. Or at least, SOMEWHERE in the franchise. Can you imagine how cute it would be to see Timon, Pumbaa, and little Simba in the background, just existing as a little family?! Like imagine Pumbaa baby-wearing Simba. And Timon rummaging through the diaper bag AHHHHH. 🥺

Well that's it I wanted to know what you think of the Lion King 3 (or 1/2)

Hooooooo boy, my feelings towards Lion King 1 1/2 are… complicated.

On the one hand? A movie, starring my boys Timon and Pumbaa?? HELL YES!! On the other hand, knowing what we COULD have gotten?? I feel robbed. 🫥

TLK 1.5 came out when I was a little girl. I had received a copy of The Lion King special edition on DVD for my birthday the year before, which kicked off my all-consuming special interest in TLK, but specifically in Timon. I was already doodling the little fella in my sketchbook before I realized TLK 1.5 was coming out. So naturally, when I found out, I was beside myself and almost threw up from excitement at school on the day it was released. 🥴🤪

And of course, I loved it as a kid. It was probably my most watched DVD. But even back then, after watching some of the deleted scenes, I remember wishing that the movie had gone in a more serious direction.

And of course, now, as an adult, I can appreciate the parody aspect of it. It’s funny, sure. Hilarious even. But I also find myself feeling a bit melancholy about the fact that the parody-feel of it was off-putting towards other fans, and made some of the visceral hatred towards T&P rear its head. (Which is something I am very sensitive about, but that’s neither here nor there—that’s a “me” problem, plain and simple.)

Anyways. I wish they had gone more in depth with Timon’s backstory, starting him out as a child like they had originally intended to do. I get WHY they decided not to do that—they probably didn’t want to keep him from meeting Pumbaa for too long. But, as a lifelong fan, that’s something I would have LIKED to see.

I also wish they hadn’t gone totally ham on parodying the original Lion King. My neurospicy brain struggles with parts of TLK 1.5 because of it. 😮‍💨

But yeah—love the new characters, love the bits in the jungle with Simba, and love the parts with Timon’s colony. Fun stuff.

Oh OH OH OH. I forgot to mention. I actually kind of… dislike how Timon was drawn in TLK 1.5. *hides*

Don’t hurt me, please. 🥴 I just… I don’t like how overly cutesy, wide-eyed, and weirdly chubby they made him look?? And his teeth bother me too. 😂 The man is supposed to be sly and slinky looking!!! 👀👀👀

Bottom line—it’s fine. I still watch it regularly. Are there things I would have done differently? Abso-fucking-lutely.
