Ghost Stories marked yet another instance of Coldplay being a much more surprising band than some people give them credit for, though I do understand their reputation. They're both earnest and emotional, which seems like an unwanted combination on the modern rock landscape, but these two qualities served them well. Thus, A Head Full Of Dreams revalidates their ways with them embracing all that makes them. Moreover, the record's mood differs from the predecessor by being more positive, which also means they show their fandom of pop that rarely gets mentioned. You see, the group keeps up with the contemporary sonic landscape of pop music. Many of their peers don't want anything to do with the latter, though they want to give that a try.
