ive been understanding myself less and less lately

i had a dream about someone that i loved seven years ago and following a kiss i said “i waited four years for this” but then i remembered they moved away two years after i had known them and ive never seen them again

then there’s the man i keep dreaming about, it’s not a reoccurring dream but rather a reoccurring character, this man whose face i can’t see because it’s always shrouded in shadow and smoke. he has a voice but i can’t ever see who he is because no matter how close to him i am my eyes can’t focus and he’s a blur. but every time i look at him my heart is filled with this agonizing and heavy love mixed with grief
