Brothers: twice the glasses, twice the trouble.
My jjba oc Riley drawn in the part 4 anime style
The day before Riley's birthday, Brody lay there listening while Riley talked quietly about the surgery like it was something solid he could finally reach for. Brody kept nodding, kept trying to look calm, but his chest felt strange with it, full of fear and tenderness and things he still didn’t know how to name. Riley was talking about his future, and Brody was realizing, with a kind of helpless certainty, that he wanted to be brave enough to stay close for all of it.
Brody had appointed himself Riley’s personal cheer squad, hype man, and extremely annoying gym supervisor, which mostly meant pointing at him with great intensity while Riley tried not to laugh mid-rep. It should have been embarrassing. Instead it just made Riley feel stronger, like being seen that hard was its own kind of fuel.
Surgery day arrived bright and ordinary in the cruelest way, like the world had no idea how much it mattered. Riley sat on the hospital bed trying to look steadier than he felt while the doctor talked him through the last quiet steps, and everything in the room seemed to narrow down to that one trembling, hopeful truth: he was finally here.
Riley's birthday
Reilly handed Riley the birthday gift with that soft, familiar kind of love only a parent could get away with, turning a simple moment into something warm and a little luminous. Riley looked so happy standing there, confetti and all, like for one night the world had decided to be gentle with him.
Prom with your best friend was supposed to be simple — a suit, a few photos, one big night before everything changed. But Brody had been in love with Riley for so long that “simple” was never really on the table. Under the gym lights, with confetti on the floor and Riley smiling beside him like he’d always belonged there, it hit him all over again: whatever this made Brody, whatever label he had to untangle later, the one thing he’d never been confused about was Riley.
