"Emmrich?" Lucanis tugs at the mage's top coat layer like a child at mother's skirt. "Yes?" For the first time in a long, long time, he can't read the expression of the person he's facing. Because he's not looking at that expression. "Could you look for her one more time, please?" Lucanis looks at the solid gold on Emmrich's armor, wrapped around seams to protect, instead of his face. He can't stand to look in people's faces, lately. All his mind registers is that the face he's looking at isn't the one he wants to see, and his despair drowns out everything else. He can listen better if he's not watching them, these days. He feels Emmrich's gaze on him, regardless. "I'd hate for her to be knocking at the door but the place is empty." Emmrich's sigh is heavy, but not irritated. He beckons over Bellara and Manfred, and they leave to the top of his staircase. Spite sits cross-legged at the bottom of the stairs. Taash and Davrin lean against the bookcase, opposite Lucanis. Nobody speaks. Lucanis barely dares to breathe. Even the remains of Johanna are quiet. Probably because Spite threatened to shred the soul trapped inside with his teeth and then smash the skull into pieces against the cluttered marble tabletop if there's one more taunt from it.

It's not like we're a secret. You are querido." An impulse makes her smile so wide her lips touch her ears. "Oh, no. Don't give me mischief, Rook." "Or would you rather I called you sugarplum in front of our friends?" "Did I pour rum in your coffee instead of creamer?" He sniffs at her cup. Spite disagrees. "Too much wine in the sauce?" Even so, he doesn't resist when she wraps her hand around his face and squishes his lips with her fingers on his cheeks. "My honeybunch Lucanis, mi chico bonito querido. Putting the ass in assassin killer ring boss cheesepie-"

He slowly realizes its his timbre that thrills her. "Yeah." "Tell me more." "That may very well be the sexiest thing I've ever heard you say." "You've said that before." Rook snorts, moving her flat hand around the tabletop blindly, looking for her glass. She finds his instead. "Impossible. You've never been this sexy." "And you've never been this drunk." "Tell me one other time I've told you that." "This morning, when I inhaled some of my coffee and greeted you after I'd caught my breath." "That doesn't count. You had breakfast ready. And you were a little hoarse. Few things sexier than a rough voice, when it normally isn't."

usually when i let my adhd just run hogwild. helps me sketching out where i want which stuff to go. also my own adhd gremlin has the exact same voice as my perception of Spite lmao

22: Do you listen to anything while you write?

So I have playlists for ships (Solavellan Hell, Banckephine <3, Lucanis Dellawhorete, ...) but I usually listen to them in my free time. I usually just have youtube running in the background when I write bc if I am not processing external sound my mind will just make up a tinnitus (:
