Todays Snake Is:

The Bismarck Ringed Python (Bothrochilus boa) is a constrictor native to the Bismarck Archipelago or Papua New Guinea. These snakes begin life brightly colored, as shown above, but dark considerably as they age to black and muddy yellow or even solid black. In the wild, these snakes are found in rain forests or farmland, often among discarded coconut husks.

so yesterday at the white plains reptile expo, I saw all 4 of the snakes that are on my "gotta have it - going to have it" list, which was great cuz there's usually only one or two at the reptile expos. 

There was this gorgeous white lipped python baby that I held that was actually very docile- which was a surprise. it wasn't quite a black phase but it also wasn't golden either. 

then there were actually a lot of dumerils boas. i guess they're rising in popularity and i'm not going to complain cuz it means i have an easier time getting one

then there were friggin sunbeam snakes. i freeeeaked out. i've never seen one in person and oh my god pictures do not do them justice. i held one of them and decided to buy him afterwards while i was walking around BUT when i went back someone else has literally just walked away with him. bummer. 

and then there was a ringed python. not very orange, but still a sight to see. he wasn't for sale cuz they're so rare i guess but it still made me happy. i should have asked to hold him but he was all coiled up in a corner and i didn't want to stress the bab.
