Variable Omens
I wake with a start. My surroundings are unfamiliar. It appears to be an abandoned building in the middle of a forest. Considering the only place with woods this thick is some distance from the city, my location is fairly easy to determine. This building should be near the castle where that girl and her gigantic Servant live. While knowing where the hell I am is nice, fearing for my life isn't.
Getting up from the ground, I give myself a once over to ensure that I'm not wounded in any serious fashion. Mercifully, I'm perfectly healthy and still have two Command Seals on my left hand. Though Saber seems to be missing, I can't afford to waste a Seal on something as insignificant as being lost. So long as a threat doesn't present itself, I should be able to get home within a few hours and without the help of my Servant. Despite my complete confidence in her abilities, I have to be conservative in my use of this powerful magic. When things look desperate, it could easily serve as an ace up my sleeve.
After recovering my still strengthened wooden sword, I exit the ruined structure and begin my long journey through the wood. Even from outside, the appearance of this place has me amazed that it's still standing. So as to not succumb to the monotonous travel, I begin reviewing the last few days events in my head.
If I remember correctly, I was attacked by a Servant with a spear, accidentally summoned Saber, used a Command Seal to stop her from attacking Sakura and her Servant. From there, she explained the Holy Grail War to me as best as she could, took me to see that priest, Kotomine. When we left, we were attacked by that girl and Berserker, as Sakura referred to him, but the two of them left after Archer nearly killed Saber and me.
After that... I'm drawing a blank. That was only three days worth of activity and there's no telling how long I was unconscious in that building. What if one of my friends was put in danger during my time absent? What if it was Matou? The thought of harm coming to her is nearly painful to me. If anything happened to her, I know I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. I need to run damage control if I want to stay on top of ending this war. Before I can even determine the date, much less recover any memories I might be missing, I need to find my way out of this forest and get back home.
After a few hours, I reach the forest's edge. Following the highway should be sufficient for finding my way home. With some successful hitchhiking, it won't even take me that long. As if in answer to my prayers, an unusually kind bus stops for me and gives me a ride back into the city. Sinking into the cushioned chair with cool air blowing on my face, I think I might just become a Buddhist from this amazing act of good Karma.
By the time we get back to Shinto, night has fallen. Just my luck, arriving at the most dangerous time of day. With the cloak of evening, my enemies will have the freedom roam the city without the need to avoid the public eye. Gripping my glorified wooden stick tightly, I begin my march to the Emiya residence, hoping to god that nothing kills me after I've come this far.
"Hmm... I know you're watching me Rider, I am not here for a fight, I'm here to talk to your master. Can I enter?" He was very calm upon setting foot in the territorial grounds.
Rider- For a moment, she said nothing, examining the Red Servant carefully. She would not move from her place in front of the door."I'm curious as to what you could talk about with my Master,Archer. "
Hearing someone at the door,Rin stood up from the couch, setting down her book and walked to the door, standing behind Rider."Rider,I'll talk to him,Just stay right where you are." Rin then looked at Archer."Yes? what would you like to talk about?"
