Rainy days in Hive City were always a call for sadness to creep in and make your body all weak even if you didn’t do anything. Rain in general was a sad thing for Kokoro, simple because she associated such weather with the emotion. If you go out when its raining, you and your belongings get all wet and it’s a hassle to get it dry. A greater hassle is actually finding a place to get dry.
So here she is, at a store she recognizes from her homeworld. It offered a sense of familiarity.
“Excuse me... may I come in to dry?”
It sounded like a request from a used towel, but Kokoro wasn’t a towel. In fact, the rain made her look like some scary ethereal being from those ‘dark and stormy night’ kind of stories.
