Rio Mosca
This is my favourite frame of Furubana. The hopefulness and light I’ll be forever grateful for to Takaya-sensei.
Super-duper curious about Rio's dad, because there is clearly a story there.
Thinking about Arisa's and Saki's relationships both during and post-canon. Spoilers for Fruits Basket and Fruits Basket Another...
but the way I see it, Arisa and Saki share in common an affection for Tohru that, while she greatly returns most of it, she can't return all of it. Arisa and Saki know this, and accept it, and they confide in one another. Watching Tohru's blooming romance is bittersweet for them. But they joke that it's better than one of them having her. At least this way they won't have to resent each other, they joke.
But their romance doesn't hit a dead-end with Tohru. Arisa manages to meet a man who shares some of the qualities she found herself attracted to in Tohru. Arisa immediately feels that he is just her type, and after fighting for each other and growing closer, they find they fit together wonderfully. We don't get to learn what happened with Arisa and Kureno in Another, but I like to believe they got their happily ever after.
As for Saki, her romance takes longer to fulfil. She jokes about Kazuma, but her attraction to him is purely for his character and his aesthetic. She would never admit to being lonely, but there is something melancholic about seeing her two closest friends finding their own happiness with other people while she watches on, having longed for one of them.
Then one day, she meets a foreigner with the last name of Mosca. They meet when Saki enters the country for business, and she never expects that this complete stranger waddling up to her with a big, pregnant belly would become the woman she'll decide to raise a child with. They get married in Mosca's home country and move back to Saki's hometown to raise Rio together. Rio becomes friends with the Soma kids, and one day his mother will share with him how Hajime's mom was her first love. Of course, she doesn't have to say "Hajime's mom." Rio knows exactly who Tohru is. And even if Arisa and Kureno don't have kids, he knows them, too. Besides his mom, Tohru and Arisa are still his mother's dearest friends.
That's how I like to see it, anyway.
Could you imagine the kid from fruits basket another playing Monipoly together? Like Rio and Shiki ganging up on Chizuru, him losing his mind?
YES I COULD TOTALLY IMAGINE IT!! I don’t know if you know the meme draw the squad???
(I’m sorry ;;; )

Ties have different designs for each school grade, so Rio's is yellow, Chizuru's is red, and Shiki's is green.
bonus sketch
It may be difficult to tell but Rio has a shaved haircut like in Spring. Although you may be like, so what, LOL
