This film is certainly something, but what it is is once again mostly for the fans. Like, it's not a good Tatort!

In this case, "fans" means both fans of Franz and Ivo, as well as fans of the musician and queer icon Rio Reiser, who not only wrote the music (including a banger of a title song), but also stars as an anarchist squatter convicted for the killing of a security guard years ago. He's now released from prison, only to find that all of his former friends that he went to prison protecting lead utterly bourgeois lives and don't really want him around anymore.

We also learn about Franz's past, and get to watch Franz being chosen as the face of a new PR campaign for Bavaria's police force and being thoroughly uncomfortable with it.

I love these poetic titles several of the old Munich episodes have, so it's a particular shame that this one isn't very good.

Verdict in one phrase: What a ride. Beginner watch? No.
