his stare is so ... blank . more tragic because he isn't angry , isn't apprehensive . he feels terrible , really , looking at the boy in front of him with drawn together eyebrows and wracking his brain , reaching into the depths to find him . he can't .

for a flash of a second he's terrified, actually . because there's something about the boy that tugs at him , like a magnet . pulling him into his orbit , [ prying into his brain ] . for a second he feels like he can hear his blood rushing through his ears . his heart beating in his chest .

BREATHE , golden boy . no reason to act like this right now .

WELL, NOW THAT'S FINISHED. the blood - stained floor fixated in your mind, how careful you were not to look her in the eyes. so fearful of the love you'd find. she hasn't been above ground in . . . years . as eden , anyway . chernabog gets to travel around the world for free . bastard .

this place is n i c e , though , better than she's seen before . there's a stove ! and a corner, with a nice beanbag she can sink into . it reminds her of the coffin , a little bit .

❛ oh - ❜ t o u c h was even less frequent . typically people are too scared to touch an ( abomination , eldritch demon , etc etc ) . sam doesn't have to worry about that , though , does he ? he's strong. not like eden has the energy to bring out the big guy anyway ; she doesn't move , scared it will push him off ; she just speaks , a s o f t , barely there kind of thing , ❛ are you okay ? you look tired . ❜ she fiddles with her fingers , unable to keep herself still , ❛ y'can talk to me . if you want . ❜ the weird realization that this is the first time they could do so without interruption .

there's a sort of awe in his voice as he dips the thick towel into the bowl of water beside him . crimson tendrils melt into the clear and luke sighs to himself . it wasn't supposed to be like this .

❛ they're going to come looking for you , you know . you're their GUARDIAN OF GODOLKIN , they'll wonder where you went . ❜ even if from the looks of it they'll know he left . distantly luke wonders if this is even sam's blood ; shuffles that into the back of his brain . isn't prepared to realize that he wouldn't care if it was anyone else's .

❛ always so messy . sometimes it's good to not leave a trace , don't you know ? ❜ his tone's got a lilt of teasing to it , bringing the towel back up to the wound on sam's head ; eyes search the boy's face in an attempt to gauge if it hurts , little spark of p a n i c behind them , ❛ you good ? ❜

seeing ( @riordsam ) out of his cell was a welcome surprise . the common room had gotten . . . emptier the longer time went on . betsy hadn't stopped breathing fire after her last breakdown so the guards kept her inside her cell . most of the others had grown tired of being here , and earlier eve had told her someone at vought cut the tranquilizer budget.

the voice of bells , a soft trill that would be easily lost if the room weren't so quiet . they're . . . anxious . not used to being without their twin , half of their s o u l . but they needed eve for a mission - something about stealth , about [ not needing a bulldozer ] . it's okay , though - the bruises from last transformation had almost healed entirely , and they had found out the hard way it was easy to forget what unblemished skin looked like .
