Leroy Colbert w/Nikki Fuller
Leroy BJ Brown Jr: an innocent boy full of life and a hope-filled future who testified as a witness to a violent crime and unfortunately was brutally murdered along with his mother Karen Clarke on January 8th 1999 at the age of 8... and when the news were released, many residents of Bridgeport, Connecticut, friends and family members were devastated… Leroy was not only an amazing kid and son but a symbol of the many who choose to come forward as witnesses to crimes but are gravely failed by law enforcement and I’d like to say that while Leroy may be gone, he’s not forgotten like many brave people who do the right thing will live on forever in not only the reforms his story brought about with his bravery but the integrity within our hearts, mind and soul.
Rest in peace Leroy BJ Brown Jr, we all will miss you dearly… (1990 - 1999)
Leroy BJ Brown Jr., a soul so bright,
A hero's heart, shinin' like mornin' light.
Son, friend, his spirit took flight,
Love he gave, with all his might.
A heart so kind, a spirit so free,
Loved from the start, for all to see.
Outgoin' kid, full of glee,
Loved his folks, eternally.
Gave his all, the best he had,
Worked hard in school, and he never felt bad.
Dreams he chased, never felt sad,
Truth, he spoke, never played mad.
Courage strong, integrity true,
Leroy's light shines on me and you.
He took the risk, see, to keep it real,
The blues he hummed, the ache he'd feel.
Locked it down tight, deep in his soul,
Hidin' that grin, makin' us whole.
Didn't want no shadows cloudin' our sky,
But fate's a river, runs wild and high.
Now he's long gone, leavin' us low,
With a heart full of grief, watchin' him go.
Man, it's a low-down shame he ain't make them nine long years,
Folks cryin', his own blood and friends, drowned in bitter tears.
Bless your heart, you were one bold soul, standin' tall and proud,
But we got evils to right, shout 'em out loud.
Now you rest, little brother, find your sweet peace,
No more fear, no more pain, your sufferin' cease.

RIP Leroy the cat (in the Your Song MV)
Not many of you know him, but he's the kitty in the music video for "Your Song" covered by Ellie Goulding. He recently died (according to her tweet).
Sad, he was such a cute cat :(
