Morgan’s Tome Entry for Matthew. Still Accepting.

(Please recognize most of this is written in a code she made back in her original timeline. Part may be written in the past, and some in the present depending on the character. This is the translation not what a character would read.)

Research: Matthew is clearly a spy of sorts. His footsteps are soft, his movements calculated, and his body language somewhat similar to Gaius. I’ve heard of some place called Lycia when investigating him. It seems to be where he is from? That’s the best assumption I can make at the moment. I can confirm he isn’t a Fodlan native since it isn’t on a Fodlan map. If I find other people from Lycia, I may be able to learn more through conversation.

Pros: Sneaky! Super sneaky! I bet he can be used to sneak around! Big surprise! More information is required to make a better assessment. Addendum: He seems to be in possession of some stronger weaponry. He’s also accepting of orders. Addendum: Seems to like snow cones.

Cons: As a Fodlan immigrant, I do not believe he has any sincere ties here. It’s hard to utilize a spy without ties. They train to be somewhat independent and strong willed. That being said, it’s not unheard of for spies to switch sides or go where they perceive to be more power and more money. More research is necessary to truly understand his motives. Addendum: Yells about incidents instead of calmly communicating about them. Perhaps not the best for recon or covert messaging.

Tactical Benefits: Quick and skilled with a sword. He can exploit weak points and even do ridiculous stunts. He also has few Fodlan connections compared to natives. Should push come to shove, a detached quiet assassin is better than an attached assassin. Addendum: He was able to jump onto *smudge* during the battle. Clearly agile and acrobatic.

Death: During the battle with the Emblem of Honesty, Matthew fought against *smudge* and after making an opening for the rest of the group, was stabbed with the chain like blade the professor wields. He seemed to die smiling.

Legacy: His arm wraps/bracers. They will be put into the cubbie alongside the others.

Lingering Questions:

He seems to vaguely remember the Emblem of Honesty... and the fight.

Something held the Professor’s sword. Though it seems the details are smudged. Perhaps in other notes of the event?

could you do a hc with george please? 💕 You and George are best friends and both of you have feelings for each other but both of you dont know about it yet and one day you were studying with a guy from your class and george sees you both together gets jealous and starts to fight!

i. george likes you. you like george. you’re both in fifth year and you’ve known eachother for a little while. it’s a tad too fresh and nerve wracking for either of you too act.

ii. you flirt quite a bit though.

iii. little touches. playful words. not enough to be right out there, but enough that both of you enjoy it.

iv. matthew is good at transfiguration. you are garbage at transfiguration. matthew is garbage at history of magic. you are also bad at it, but your grades are about one letter or two above his so he likes to study with you.

v. george doesn’t like matthew. he’s a bit jealous of the fact that you spend three to four hours together about twice a week without fail, but it’s more to do that matthew is an utter spoil sport and tends to admonish him and fred for their pranks.

vi. he walks in on you two studying one day. both hovering over a parchment, heads close together. it’s the final straw, as it were.

vii. george marches up, not sure of what he’s going to do until he reaches your table. you look up with a grin, happy to see him. matthew does not smile.

viii. he blurts out the words before he even thinks about them.

“Let’s go to Hogsmeade.”

“Wh-what?”

“On a date. Let’s go to Hogsmeade on a date.”

ix. you stare for a bit in surprise. matthew scowls because he just wants to finish this essay, dammit. finally the words come to you, and you grin very widely at george. “Of course! That sounds wonderful!” you wonder what to say next– you still have work to do. “Would you like to work with us?”

x. that is how george becomes you boyfriend. and how matthew stopped studying with you.
