I’m heartbroken and devastated about the passing of Steve Wright. He was the voice of my teenage years, listening to his afternoon show in the car or the kitchen with my Mum. Or the warmth of a cup of tea and Sunday love songs on lazy Sunday mornings. It always felt like we were hanging out with friends. I didn’t realise at the time how much those times would mean to me until after Mum died in 2005. From then on I would listen to Steve Wright in the afternoon or Sunday love songs whenever I needed comfort or to feel close to her.
So thank you Steve for being the voice over the airwaves that was there through the wonderful times and wrapped me in a warm hug through the darker times. Rest in peace.
