ok wait I jsut realised you are the perfect person for this since you're like the only person I know abt who writes for lucifer in the sandman. I don't know if you've watched the new season but PLEASE give us your thoughts on lucifer I'm BEGGING for this..
Oh I’m definitely not the only one, darling. Here are some just to name a few:
And I have never actually watched The Sandman, not season 1 and not season 2. I don’t like the original creator. However, the character is brilliant - but I think the actress makes it that way. Regardless, from the few scenes I’ve watched, they’re sassier. Somehow more human? I wish their hair looked a little better on the beach, but it was a cool interaction. RIP to the wings, they shall be dearly missed. - Rip x
Hey. I’m not sure if this is a dumb question- but are drow’s born with wings? Why does baby virgil have wings but big virgil and other elves don’t? Am I missing something?
Drow and most other Elves are not born with wings, but Zekylyn are!
Drow are capable of bonding with Dragons more completely than other Humanoid species. A union between the two creates Draa'zekyl, or drow-dragons, who are able to split their heritage in two; They become a perfect combination of the two creatures, and can change their form from Dragon to Drow, and vice-versa.
When a Draa'zekyl has a child with a mundane Drow, the result is a clutch of Zekylyn and Zar'ithra'rin. They have been mentioned on blog before; as Might- and Mana-manifested descendants. A Zekyl is a quarter-dragon Drow who is born with physical dragon traits, and a Zar'ithra are quarter-dragon Drow who are born with an incredible talent for sorcery.
...Seeing as you watched him hatch from a dragon egg with fully functioning white-and-black wings, you can assume Virgil is a White-Shadow Zekyl.
Zekyl (who are almost always amab) have the good natural dexterity of Drow, but their dragon blood completely erased the amab Drow's physical frailty, especially in the case of White Dragon ancestry. They are significantly stronger and sturdier than mundane Drow, and they can train their bodies much more rapidly, mastering high levels of physical and martial skill in a fraction of the time it would take another Elf. By the time they've reached adulthood, they will often already be soldiers on par with adventurers ten times their age. (You imagine this is how Virgil reached Level 18 before he reached adulthood)
Being part dragon also gave them much better low-light vision than the average Drow, which made them better to withstand glowing environments and quicker to acclimate to bright light. Furthermore, they gained the ability to manipulate shadows, morphing themselves into black smoke and summoning weapons and creatures from the dark. They also were known to develop an immunity to spells that paralyze and/or drain energy as they grew older.
Of course, most distinctly of all, most Zekyl are born with a pair of dragon wings that allow them to fly faster than they can move on land. They are also born with sharper teeth and claws to utilize in combat, and thicker skin to protect against physical attacks.
...Zekyl were tainted by their dragon blood as much as they were blessed by it, though. They tended to follow the same behavioral patterns of their Dragon type when put under stress, which made many of them incredibly violent, self-obsessed, and unforgiving. All Zekylyn were known to have a predisposition for the roguish arts, with natural skill in intimidation, stealth, and assassination.
With a ferocious screech, the dragon swept down the side of the mountain, its ears picking up on that of the small fairy’s voice. The dragon landed in front of the fairy, the ground shaking from its weight. Gyro was truly a bug compared to this giant beast, barely the size of this dragon’s talon. With a deep, booming voice, the wind whirling angrily around them, the dragon spoke.
“WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE TO DISTURB ME, OBNOXIOUS FAE? I AM DI, DRAGON OF THE WINDS, AND I AM NOT A BEAST ONE SHOULD MESS WITH, ESPECIALLY AS PUNY AS YOU!”
“You!” Gyro said. “Your wind has caused violent storms across several kingdoms, destroyed a multitude of buildings, and has grounded winged folk, including myself! You can’t keep doing this, you have to stop!”
“YOU CANNOT TELL DI WHAT TO DO,” Di snapped, his nostrils flaring a golden glow as the wind picked up. “LET YOUR KINGDOMS SUFFER, THEIR BUILDINGS DESTROYED. PESTS THEY ARE, EACH AND EVERY ONE, ALL FOR DIFFERENT REASONS TOO. GOLD, LAND, EVEN TO MERELY LOOK BRAVE, THEY COME AND ATTACK, AND EACH OF THEM SLAIN BY ME. IT HAS BECOME LESS FUN EACH TIME TO EAT THEIR TINY FORMS.” Leaning his head down as he grabbed the fairy, his voice softened to an evil whisper. “Pray I let you go with a warning, you will not come back to this land, or I will rain even harsher storms, and kill everyone in the land. This is what you get for your foolish actions.” Using his talons to grab the tiny, opaque wings of the fairy, he ripped them off as if they were paper.
“Tell your kingdoms friends not to mess with me.” And thus the now wingless fairy was tossed away like garbage, and the dragon went back to the mountain peak to cause more havoc.
