Alright, I’m in the mood to talk about a thing I’m interested in too much, but there’s not a lot I’m currently invested in to the point of discussion. So I guess we’re talking a bout Siivagunners RIP². I’ve not listened to the entire thing start to finish (it’s 95 tracks) but I have been listening to it on shuffle, so I’ll state my opinions on my stand out favorites so far. Brief disclaimer, I’m not a huge Siivagunner fan, so I’m not aware of how the original versions of all the rips go.
Athletic Cartoons: I don’t think I have the authority to say anything negative about this one. Athletic theme is the most popular rip for a reason. Also I like the vocals a lot more in this version for some reason.
Circus: 30 seconds of surprisingly good nonsense. Wish it was longer, but that would defeat the purpose.
Super Bahrio Bahros(reprise): This is just a remix of the Super Mario Bros themes, and it’s possibly one of the best tracks out of context because of it. There’s this one part at the front where it sounds like it samples something, and it’s familiarity annoys me, but otherwise? Probably in my top 5.
“POWER” Of “NEO”: felt slightly cheated until I remembered Mettaton Neo dies In one hit. Mostly mentioned because It feels weird for the full album on YouTube to only include the first part, and the individual YouTube release has the full thing.
Wii Shop Swing: should have been called Shop Swiing. I like it, but the original vocals feel weird to be. I think it’s the tone of voice not jelling with the lyrics in some spots. It’s a rather small thing though.
¡Long Live the Steam Gardens!: HELL YEAH! One of the few rips I knew from before the album that aren’t synonymous with Siivagunner. This turns the original up to eleven. Wish there was a extra minute to it.
Legend Of The Mythical Nutshack: wut
A High Quality Hoedown: Possibly the most straightforward track I’ve heard so far. For possibly being the most well known Siivagunner thing other then Athletic Theme (PAL Version) it gets very few bells and whistles, but it really doesn’t need any. Just some good old (high) quality slider.
Delfino Pachinko: I never realized siivagunner was the guy who started the “Delfino Plaza, but it never starts” meme. It does what it sets out to do, and is possibly the worst thing I’ve heard all month, but in a good way. I am pretty curious what a actual cover of Delfino Plaza would sound like in this style now. Also the screaming at the end was actually really disturbing the first listen, why did you do that?
Apple Approaching: Kinda wish there was an entire cover of Bad Apple in this style. Good, but wish there was more Apple.
FUNKY [[Dealmaker]]: Best track I’ve heard. Hands down. Everyone else tried, but they can’t stand to the Spam. This was the first track I heard from the album (other then Athletic Cartoons), and while I had never heard Funky Dealer before this, I sure as hell knew about Spamton. After listening to the original rip, that’s also really good, though they do feel like wildly different songs. Having a faster tempo definitely helped to sell me on it. It’s fast, chaotic, and a great sign of what was to come from the rest of the album. Feel like it needs an extra few bars, but that’s the only complaint.
Bearmania!: May be another top 5 song, but it’s taken down because of the vocals. Otherwise feels like it could be a completely original track. Also needs to be longer, why are the best ones so short?
If you’ve read all this, thank you! This is admittedly pretty niche. I may update this when I’ve listened to more of the album.
