To all of the people ranting about Harry Potter fans being disrespectful of Richard Griffiths by paying tribute through the fandom: It doesn’t matter if people remember him for one particular role or for doing one thing because they are still thinking of him and are saddened by his death. Just because they write ‘R.I.P Vernon Dursley’ does not mean that they don’t care or that they are only thinking of the character, just that Vernon Dursley is of whom they think when they hear his name and that is what he means to them. Don’t think badly of somebody for paying their respects in a different fashion. When Michael Jackson died, did we ridicule people for leaving out white gloves or playing his music? Did we say: ‘You don’t care about him, just his music.’? If Harry Potter fans know and love Richard Griffiths for playing Vernon Dursley, how is that a bad thing? They still know and love him and that matters.
