Hey, Zander

It's been three years since you left us. How are the stars up there? I hope it's been going well and you feel as free as a bird, without all that suffering you had to go through. I miss you, we all do. We always think of you. I know Ari does, she was crushed when she found out. She misses you the most. This time of year I think it's the worst for her.

Ever since you left, I always remember the valentines cards you made us. They were so cute, and I always remember them, it made me feel loved and made my day a little better. I remember how much you loved valentines day. Ever since you left, I've loved the holiday even more. I send out individual letters to all my friends now to remind them that I love them for them. I don't want them going to bed thinking they're not loved. Even if goodness forbid - they take their lives the next day, at least they'll leave knowing someone loved them and cared for them in their last moments. I hope when you left, you felt loved by your friends, as hard as it was for you to go.

I've talked to your friends from time to time. The only one I really talk to still is Hector. He's... going through a lot. It's been pretty hard for him these last few years with jobs n all. We used to play smash bros a whole bunch but it's been so long, we only talk on the occasion now since life is so busy.

I hope you're feeling okay up there with the stars. You're always being missed by one of your friends. Rest in power, star boy.

I would like to personally thank each and every person who donated towards getting Zander his star. You did it! There's so much I could say right now and so much I want to, but I'm not sure any words could properly explain what i'd like to.

Regardless, Zander is where he can't be hurt now, and where he can be happy with other stars just like him.

In memory of Zander Nicholas Mahaffey and Leelah Alcorn paint one ring finger pink and the other blue and write the words "Gender freedom, rest in power, his name was Zander, her name was Leelah" on your arm starting Friday February 20, 2015 to Friday February 27, 2015. No one of any age, race, gender or sexual orientation should have to suffer and feel like death is the only way out like these two children. They left us way too young and the fact that Zander died Sunday and I have seen almost nothing about his death is absolutely sickening especially after the huge uproar the media was in after Leelah's death.
